Trust

Zelda and Link made their way off the ice, one after another. They were both silent as they sat down next to each other, not knowing what was okay to say. Zelda was dead set on competing, but of course she would understand if Link didn't want to. She didn't want it to be with him either quite frankly.

"The foundation of pair skating is trust" Link piped up, focusing his sight straight ahead onto the rink, at which the rest were being sorted into pairs.

The way he was sat was cool yet intimidating as he looked so calm, one knee on the bench as he slouched his arms round the back of it, one of them almost touching Zelda's shoulder. Almost.

With a look of surprise on her face Zelda looked over, seeing that Link looked completely neutral, monotone, as if he had no emotion towards the situation as he continued to stare straight forward.

"Yeah" She breathily replied, wondering how in Hyrule they were ever going to make this work.

"So... Like me or not, you need to trust me" He fixed his posture and turned to face her, the tone of his voice matching his blank expression.

There was a moment then that Zelda thought, was he actually considering doing this with her? She was positive their 'partnership' would barely last a week before he just outright said no.

"I don't need your pity" She chuckled, not believing the seemingly nice and considering façade even for a second.

"Or do you? You know that, because we're bonded and all, I'm the only person here you could possibly compete with. Get even close to competing with" An expression finally appeared on his face, as a smug smile made its way into Zelda's line of sight. It was funny how he'd openly mention their pendants when it led to his benefit yet he'd never at any other time.

"Keep your voice down!" She sighed. No matter how much she hated to admit it, he was right. "You win" hanging her head low, she pulled out her phone as she got a notification.

It was the choreographed piece that they had to learn prior to the competition, the short program. They were given a song and a routine to follow to it, they didn't really have much say in the matter.

"Check your phone" She muttered, wanting do anything other than talk. Maybe having him see what they were actually in for would knock some sense into him.

Before he had time though, the two teachers gestured for everyone to get back onto the ice.

"The short program video may look extremely intimidating at first, but once it's broken down into smaller steps, you should be fine. I suggest that the skaters start with trying to teach the hockey players different jumps, as that will be completely new to them and the hardest to complete" The skating teacher started. It didn't really make sense that they were called over for that. "However, right now we're going to teach you some basic steps which will incorporate into your programs" As she spoke, the coach stood next to her, picking up her hand once she had finished.

"This is the most basic thing you see in pair skating"

The two started skating forwards while holding the others hand. It didn't necessarily seem hard and it didn't look very impressive at first. Once they came up to the point of turning around, they did simple little crossovers with their feet, then they switched hands, continuing skating backwards towards the other end of the rink. Again, it didn't look hard or impressive, but being in perfect sync with another person was.

They beckoned Link and Zelda back over to the ice, to which they followed, though not necessarily happy about it. Of course they were expected to set the example to the rest.

"Can you two please give us a demonstration?" Coach asked, noticing how Link's eyes rolled.

Zelda sighed as she turned around, Link hesitantly yet smoothly gliding his hand into hers, picking it up slightly and holding it gently. The gentle hold was mostly so he felt like they were making as little contact as possible.
