Ember

{ twelve }

**Earlier that day...**

Ember helped Emily with washing the dishes and doing the laundry. Emily and Ember were giggling while playing with the bubbles. Emily put the foam bubbles on her chin to look like she has a beard. Ember flicked the soap at Emily and Emily gasped.

"Oh no you did not! This is my favorite shirt!"

Ember snickered, "Whoops!" Ember laughed.

Emily grunted in frustration and rolled her eyes. Emily grabbed a bunch of foam bubbles and rubbed them all over Ember.

"Hey!" Ember cried.

Both girls were dying of laughter and Aunt Jenna walked into the room.

"Girls!" She yelled. Both girls flinched and turned around quickly. They were giggling and Aunt Jenna scoffed, "Are you kidding me? Did you even do the dishes?" Aunt Jenna spat.

"Y-yea! We did! We're almost done." Ember nodded and chuckled sheepishly. Emily grinned and Aunt Jenna rolled her eyes. Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Who is that?" Aunt Jenna asked as she went to get the door.

Ember and Emily quickly wiped the bubbles off of them and ran to the door. Aunt Jenna moved out of Ember's sight, revealing the boy.

"Hi my name's Ash."

He looked at Ember and smiled.

"Where's Ember Rose?" He asked and Ember pointed at herself.

"Who are you?" Ember asked.

"I'm your long-lost brother," Ash said.

That's when everything went downhill from there...
Ember's eyes widened in surprise and cleared her throat.

"Well... come in sweetie." Aunt Jenna invited Ash in. Ash stepped inside and he sighed. He smiled and stared at Ember. Aunt Jenna closed the door and asked, "Are you staying here or...?"

Ash shook his head, "Oh no I'm just here to talk with Ember." He smiled a fake smile and as soon as he looked away, his smile instantly turned into an angry frown.

Ember backed away and chuckled sheepishly. Ash grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the couch.

"So... after all this time, I've finally found you." Ash said softly. He didn't want Emily to overhear. Ember noticed Emily lingering nearby.

"It's fine, don't worry." Ember mouthed to her. Emily smiled a little and walked away. Abruptly, Ash pulled Ember's chin towards his face.

He smirked, "You won't have that pesky rainbow dragon for long." He chuckled. Ember pushed him away and got up.

"You will never have Spectrum." Ember said a little too loudly. Ash flinched looked to see if anybody noticed.

Ash grunted, "We'll see." He grinned and stood up. Ash bumped against Ember's shoulder as he walked to the front door. Ash opened it and looked back at Ember.

Ember stared at him as he smiled mischievously. He chuckled creepily and closed the door. Well, more like slammed it. Ember flinched as fear crept up her spine. Ember sighed deeply as Emily walked into the room.

"Okay. What the hell did he say?" Emily said loudly. She crossed her arms and had an angry look.

"He's gonna try and steal all of my dragon's power." Ember told the truth and Emily gulped in fear as she came up to comfort her. She rubbed her shoulders.

"We'll be prepared for him, I promise." Emily smiled warmly and she nodded. She laid her head on Emily's shoulder as Emily caressed the back of her head.

**Night Time**

Ember woke up with a start. She was drenched in cold sweat as she just woke up from a very surreal nightmare. She shuddered and breathed heavily. Fear had her hanging by a thread.

A sudden bang came from the front door downstairs. Ember flinched as she gasped and whipped her head towards the sound. Fear twinged at her heart, making it pound rapidly. Her hair stood on end as she got the chills from that sound.

She heard footsteps roaming in the house. She listened to them becoming louder. Her eyes widened in fear. She shook her head vigorously.

No no no no no!

She hyperventilated and crawled behind the bedroom door. She peeked through the crack, a man checked in one room. Emily was a very light sleeper and she screamed but it abruptly stopped. Ember gasped and put her hand over her mouth, she sobbed quietly.

Emily was unconscious in his arms. He was in a hoodie and it was so dark at night that Ember could barely see them. He carried Emily out of the house and when the door slammed shut, Ember ran out of her room and woke up her aunt and uncle.

"AUNT JENNA AND UNCLE MUSHU WAKE UP!!!!" Ember yelled at the top of her lungs as she shook them violently. They both woke up and Ember stammered, trying to tell them what just happened.

They ran onto the small porch next to their bedroom and shifted. The two dragons stood on the roof as they roared furiously. Ember got onto the roof too and saw the same man standing there. He started shifting as well and was bigger than Zedd and Harper combined.

Ember dropped her jaw in fear and panic as the nightshadow/moon dragon roared. He blew giant fire balls at them and Harper blocked them with her wing. She was able to block them but, it was too much pain. She moved her wing away and one fire ball managed to hit the house.

The whole thing lit up into flames as Zedd picked Ember up. He threw her onto his back and Ember cried. She wanted to ride him but his burning scales hurt her. Ember stood on top of him and jumped onto Harper. She hugged her as she cried into her scales. Harper purred and looked back the nightshadow/moon dragon.

He was getting irritated and frustrated. He roared a very powerful roar that shook the earth. People woke up and started to come out of their homes. The dragon dashed at Zedd and pushed him to the ground.

His scolding hot scales didn't burn the nightshadow mix. Instead, he sucked some of his power which left Zedd weak. Zedd laid on the ground as he groaned weakly. The nightshadow/moon dragon roared and teleported right in-front of Harper and Ember. The dragon growled softly as he smirked in amusement. He bit Harper's neck as she roared in pain.

The dragon pulled Harper to the ground, making Ember fall off. Ember slammed against the ground and groaned in pain. She sat up and saw the nightshadow/moon dragon suck up some of Harper's power; enough that left her weak. The dragon sighed deeply, his back facing Ember.

He turned his gaze towards her as he hissed. Ember screamed and scrambled to get up and run away. The nightshadow/moon dragon dashed up into the sky. Ember breathed heavily, she was drenched in cold sweat. She heard the dragon roar so loud that it almost shook the earth.

She glanced up in the sky and saw the giant dragon mix that blocked the entire moon which made the night, pitch black. Without the moonlight to make up shadows and outlines of objects, Ember was completely blind. Then the dragon whooshed down to the ground, in front of Ember as the moonlight shined on him.

The giant moon dragon mix looked at Ember in the eyes. His eyes glowed yellow and suddenly fear was booming inside her mind as adrenaline was coursing through her veins. Ember whimpered in fear and screamed as she ran for her life. The nightshadow/moon dragon roared as he grabbed Ember's shirt. Ember got yanked up and thrown into the sky. She somehow managed to shift in midair.

"Oh shit! SHIFT SHIFT SHIT SHIFT!!!" She said repeatedly as she turned into Spectrum.

Right before she hit the ground, she expanded her wings out as the wind lifted her up. Spectrum roared as she twirled into the clouds. She landed back down in front of the nightshadow mix.

Spectrum growled as the dragon crackled, "Shh sh shh... don't worry, your family is safe but I will harm them unless you give me what I want." He slammed his claw into the ground as Spectrum looked over at Harper and Zedd. And Emily!

There were two men holding her hostage as she squirmed furiously. She had a bandana in her mouth. Spectrum whimpered and looked back at the monster.

Spectrum closed her eyes.
