Ember

{ twenty-two }

Ember's whole world crashed down on her. Her dragon spirit, her everything was gone and in the hands of a madman.

Ember ran up to Spectrum and tried to talk to the dragon but within its eyes, they glowed maroon red. They had no sign of happiness and kindness. Only anger and hate and anguish.

Ember gasped in fear as tears stung at her eyes, "NOOO!! Spectrum please come back to me!" She hugged Spectrum's snout but the corrupted rainbow dragon growled and shoved Ember to the ground.

She snarled as she jumped up to the sky. She circled the village and dashed down towards Ryan.

Ryan shrieked in pure terror, "NOOO! NOT AGAIN!"

Ember quickly got up to her feet and ran towards Ryan. At the last second, she lunged herself at him pushing him out of the way and dodging Spectrum's attack. Spectrum lifted up into the air and roared furiously.

"Shit we need to go now!" Ember yelled as she pulled Ryan along and ran as fast as she could.

The scariest thing was that the rainbow dragon used to be Ember's. She felt so empty without the dragon's power crackling through her veins and now that very same dragon is trying to kill her.

Radiant shot up into the sky as Ember's heart was pounding in her chest, it was the only thing she could hear. Fear clung at her shoulders as it taunted her.

You'll die, you'll never survive.
You better hurry! Before she gets to you!

"Look! There's a cave just below the mountain!" Ember shouted as they ran through the grassy plains.

Ember heard Spectrum's roar filled with anger and hatred. They were so close, both were almost there as Spectrum was gaining on them, merely centimeters away.

Ember jumped into the cave as Ryan did but he got caught in Spectrum's jaws.

"Oh my god Ryan!" Ember screamed as Spectrum flew away from cave. Ryan was sobbing and screaming since he was petrified of dying.

Ember panted and sat there for a moment, to process everything that just happened.

Ember quickly crawled towards the entrance of the cave and watched Spectrum fly away in the distance with Ryan in her jaws.

Ember whimpered as her whole body was shivering with fear. She sat down slowly as she put her back and head up against the cave walls.

It was a very tiny cave that Ember alone could barely fit in there standing up. Tears streamed down her face as she cried out loud in sobs.

"Oh.." Ember gasped, "My god..." She said in between sobs. She shook her head as she put her head down in her knees.

"Why?" She whispered softly, "Why did all of this have to happen to me? I was supposed to have my happy ending..." She sobbed even harder, "I was supposed to be back in the village, laughing with my fam- family." She hyperventilated as she sobbed.

Ember looked outside the cave, she saw her village from afar as she saw her own people in chains and Tyler's men stabbing them with the serum, she put her hand over her mouth as she saw her own family about to be in chains too.

"I have to stop this madness, I have to save them... before Tyler destroys everything." Ember said to herself.

She felt anger rising within her. She would never let her beloved village get corrupted like this. She wiped her tears away and ran out of the cave.

She grinned and ran towards Tyler's men. Ember hid behind a village home and peeked to see one of Tyler's men standing there, his back facing her. She took a deep breath as she slowly exhaled.

Okay Ember you got this..

Ember saw Tyler's men surrounding her people, standing guard. She saw there was so many of them. She couldn't do this alone.

She went to try find her family. Ember ran behind the village homes as she finally spotted them. She sighed in relief and joy; they were being pushed into another village home.

She ran into the forrest as she swiftly moved past the trees. Then the hard part came next, she had to sneak past this one guy who paced back and forth between the forest and Ember's family inside the house.

Ember grunted in frustration. The guy's back was facing Ember as she quickly sneaked past him but right when she was literally about to go and open the door, the guy turned around again. Ember gasped as the guy locked eyes with her.

Shiiittt...

Ember gulped as she quickly ran towards the house, the guy called out.

"HEY! COME BACK HERE!" He yelled as Ember ran inside of the house and slammed the door shut.

She grabbed a chair and put the chair up against the door and under the doorknob, jamming it as the guy outside yanked at the knob, trying to get inside.

Ember panted heavily. Suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder, she yelped as she turned around, she hugged Aunt Jenna. Then Emily and Uncle Mushu came to join the hug as well. Ember sighed happily.

"Ember! I'm so glad you're okay!" Emily chuckled as she hugged tightly out of relief.

"What's going on Ember? It seems like you know more than what you're letting on." Aunt Jenna asked as Ember nodded. She sighed heavily as she explained everything that happened.

"Tyler wants to turn everyone into normal humans as to punish them for what he went through... he—" Ember left a lingering silence.

"What? What is it Ember?" Uncle Mushu asked.

"Tyler also took.. took Spectrum, he stole my power, my dragon spirit." Ember frowned as her family was shocked.

"But how-?" Emily was cut off by Aunt Jenna.

"I'm so sorry that happened to you, Ember." Jenna rubbed Ember's shoulders out of comfort as Uncle Mushu pointed out that Tyler's men were about to break through the door.

"Shift!" Ember shouted in panic.

Emily started shifting as they were pounding at the door, Ember could hear the cracks of the wood about to break apart. Emily grew into the ice/water dragon, destroying the roof.

Everyone jumped onto her, fighting through the pain of the cold scorching scales, as Sapphire shot up into the sky. She soon came crashing down to the ground.

"You guys stay on the ground and I'll stop Tyler's men from injecting the serum any further into our people." Aunt Jenna translated what Sapphire said for Ember.

"Heck yeah!" Ember chuckled as she raised her fist into the air. Everyone noticed them, giving away their positions.

"Thanks a lot Ember." Uncle Mushu said as Ember chuckled sheepishly.

Whoops... looks like we're gonna have to do this the hard way.

Ember thought to herself as she ran towards the village people. Sapphire blasted ice at the men as she circled around the people who were chained up. She created a passage way for Ember to get through the wall of guards.

"Go.. take care of yourselves." Ember said to Uncle Mushu as he held her tightly and kissed her on the head.

"My little hero," He whispered into her ear. Ember kissed his cheek as he ran towards Aunt Jenna.

Ember turned around to everyone who was chained up. They were all terrified as they were lined up in rows, kneeling down.

"Oh my god.." Ember whispered to herself as she walked towards them.

The ice was taller than her as it acted like a barricade, preventing Tyler's men from getting in. Sapphire blasted them as they all were screaming, they ran away and some men were frozen mid-step.

Sapphire hovered above Ember and the people of the village who were chained up. Ember quickly grabbed a key from one of the men who was frozen and used it to unlock the chains.

Everyone cheered as Ember went down the line, she'd free them all if Spectrum hadn't showed up and ruined everything.
