That night, once everyone in the cabin was asleep, Chaos appeared beside Annabeth's bunk. Carefully, so as not to wake her, he removed the notebook from under her pillow, slipping his own note inside of it. Just as carefully, he returned the notebook to its spot and prepared to leave.

"Percy." Chaos froze. Had she woken up? He was always so careful. A quick look proved that she was still asleep. So she was talking in her sleep then. He smiled softly. There was a hint of a smile on her lips as well, so he could only hope that whatever she was dreaming about was pleasant, something from before all of this happened to them.

Chaos leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I love you, always and forever." And then he was gone, back to the Island.

The next morning, he watched as Annabeth opened the journal, face lighting up to see a new paper in it. She unfolded it quickly, eyes pouring over the words slowly, deciphering them.

'Hey Wise Girl,

I know you'll be great in the next Capture the Flag. You always are. As for college, you'd better believe I'll watch you get that diploma. You worked hard for it...' and so on until she reached the bottom, where he'd signed it.

'Always and forever,

Your Seaweed Brain'

He never signed it Percy. He never signed it Chaos. Somehow, that was ok. He just didn't know how much longer he would do this. He had tried not to interact at all the first six months or so. It had been beyond difficult. Now he was wondering if that truly was the answer. He'd been putting replies in her journal less and less frequently, trying to get both of them used to the fact that they simply couldn't continue this way. It wasn't working very well. How could they both be acting like this was normal? Even for them, it wasn't.

Chaos sighed, letting the stream return to its normal flow, no images displayed in it. "Just how long is an eternity?"
