Of course, within 5 minutes, everyone from the bartending for jesus crews' household was banging on every entrance to the river room, screaming for them to unlock the doors.
The girls hunched over, covering their eyes and Marcus looked worriedly at Gale. The woman shook her head and threw her hands up it the air as if giving the missing donut conundrum all away to the lord. she walked over to the door and with a strong hand yanked it open.Ian and Jon were the first to tumble in, both stumbling and falling face first into Gale's designer flats. Ethan and Ryan stood behind them, looking confused at Marcus. Antonia giggled and Sophie stepped over the two boys and walked around Gale over to the table where the three bartender sat.
'Spil.' She growled.
Ava looked at Jazmin, who rolled her eyes. 'We have a bit of an issue here.' She pointed slightly towards the kitchen area, devoid of all welcoming treats and groups of talking and coffee drinking adults. ' we don't seem to have any donuts'. jazmin's voice wavered.
Sophie, and the group of kids that had accumulated around her, were silent for one blissful moment.
Antonia screamed.
Luckily, the worship team singing loudly in the auditorium was able to cover up what followed. The boys yelled desperate questions, eyes wide with horror and despair. Sophie's eyes welled up with tears and she turned away. Ava, Jazmin and Marcus leaped up to protect themselves from the young mob, and Gale barricaded the children off like a cop.
"Stay away from them!' Gale barked, holding Ian off of her with one hand. 'They did nothing wrong!'
'Then why do we have no donuts?' Ryan asked, his hand pressed up against his forehead with stress. 'Yeah!' Jon screamed. 'They probably just ate them all!' Marcus stepped forward, hands outstretched as if begging for peace. 'We swear we did not eat them. We just came and-,' he sniffed. 'They were not here. Nothing else. We just won't be able to have donuts this sun-' "OR WILL WE?' A loud mysterious female voice rang across the room, cutting marcus' hopeless statement off. No one had noticed Elly Abel, Jazmin's long lost sister, enter amid the chaos.Jazmin blinked twice, slack jawed. 'Slap me' she hissed to Ava. The room silenced. All eyes were on Elly, just as she had planned. The neon green haired girl stalked, hands behind her back, through the room until she was face to face with Marcus. A smug grin covered her face. 'Ah. Marcus. I remember you... always the pessimist. I see nothing has changed.'
Elly turned, eyes scanning until they found their target. Jazmin stood tall as her sister approached, until the two stood only a foot apart. They stared at each other, and then, to save the awkwardness, Jazmin spoke up.'Did you find them?' She asked, voice low, challenging. Ella's expression hardened. 'I had hope. I knew that a small neon haired girl just trying to get by would be able to find a place in the 5sos tour bus. Guess I was wrong. That what happens when you believe in this world.' Jazmin raised an eye brow. ' I told you they wouldn't-' " I made it far enough to where their security guard himself was forced to ask me personally to leave. When I refused to stop tailgating the back of their bus in rollerblades, he had to arrest me, and I was sent to Juvi.' Elly looked up, and dark memories clouded her eyes.
Ava put a hand on elly's shoulder. 'I'm so sorry that-' " BUT while I was in that cold, dark cell. I had a revelation. I was meant to be a detective. That's right! And this is my first case." Elly held up a magnifying glass from her pocket. Everyone looked so confused, Marcus wished he had the nerve to pull out his tablet and take a picture. Jazmin sneered. ' you can't be serious Elly. You left the household and forced us to make PRE PACAGED scones for TWO WHOLE WEEKS while you were gone, and you took your recipe with you. PRE PACAGED AMERICAN SCONES FOR TWO WEEKS, ELLY. And you expect us to just welcome you back?'
Elly shrugged and nodded. 'Once this case is done and we have our donuts, I can make my famous scones for our desert tomorrow?' Jazmin wanted to stay mad, but she couldn't with the promise of fresh scones. She, and all the rest of the kids from the house nodded intensely. Ava let out a whoop and Sophie's eyes filled up with tears again, but this time they were happy.
Elly's face transformed into pure determination. She pulled out of her trench coat a forensic kit from Walmart and held up her magnifying glass in the other hand. 'Let's go find those donuts'.
