drapetomania: (n.) the overwhelming urge to run away.
Regina Bhecks. That's who Emme was staring at now with her mouth wide open. She's that famous movie actor in all of her favored movies.
And she was walking right towards Emme.
"This is a lovely dress. It brings out your eyes," Regina said with a graceful tone. Emme stuttered to find the perfect words to stay in return. But they failed to grace her lips.
"And she thanks you. Right Emerson," A voice interrupted. Emme only nodded as her mouth dangled open. Regina had a look and curiosity on her face. Emme turned to look for the source and came face to face with Cameron.
Soon enough, a feeling of envy took over. She had his full attention. Except his hand was on Emme's waist. So why was she envious? It was stupid of her. She was a silly little girl. Jealous of something she didn't have.
She looked up at Cam and found a hidden emotion pooling in his eyes as he looked at Regina.
Adoration.
Emme watched as Regina raked a hand down Cam's arm in a sexy, seductive fashion. Emme took a step away from them. Not one curious glance.'
So she walked away.
She used to love doing this shit when she was little. Going to high-end parties and balls. Getting to dress nicely for an audience to admire.
And now she was just empty. A mess of hurt and depression. That's all she was. Making her think she was worthless. And she believed she was. Emme only saw herself as nothing.
She looked over at the food table and glared at the delicious looking foods. To her, it was disgusting. One of the only things she did was worry consistently about her weight.
When she weighed herself last night, she was coming in at 112 lbs. It made her feel proud of herself. She was skinnier and didn't weigh as much now. Yay! At least for her. But she still felt fat and wanted to lose more weight.
But if she lost any more weight, and ate less than she already does, she'll be anorexic. But the though didn't scare her. In fact, it only filled her with pride.
Don't ask why, but it just did. Well actually, knowing she would be lighter and skinnier reassured her.
"Emerson! What are you doing? For Heaven's sake, do something useful for once. You were just talking to REGINA BHECKS," her mom's croaky voice sounded from behind her. Emme internally groaned at her mother. She could've just pulled Emme aside and told her but no. She had to say it where people could hear.
"Don't ignore me young lady," Kim croaked again. People were starting to turn heads. Oh no.
Emme whipped her body around and harshly whispered,"Not right now mother." That only made Kim even more irate.
"Don't you dare use the tone with me Emerson Caylee. I am your mother and I deserve respect," Kim hollered in a menacing tone. Emme backed down with a small whimper.
In a hushed tone, Emme said,"Please mother. Please." Her mother shook her head, marched up to Emme, and landed a hard one on her.
Realization set in. Kim just backhanded her own daughter. Tear erupted from Emme's eyes. They came pouring down like a category 5 hurricane. Kim glared at her daughter.
They no longer wanted to be family. So Emme ran away. Just like she does with all of her other problems.
Emme ran until she made it home. She was surprised. She ran all the way home in sky high heels. Wow.
She stripped herself from her dress once she reached her room and took a blade to her thighs, wrists, and hips.
As the blood oozed out of the deep wound, Emme searched desperately for pills. Pills that would end it all. End the pain. She found some and downed them. She swallowed them without remorse, happy the pain would be ending.
She found slip of paper and started writing her suicide note. She wrapped it up with her signature and laid it down on her desk and she went to rest on her bed.
And she drifted into darkness. And tears spilled.
