In her dreams she dances with freedom. Away from all worries. She was with her gram and Noah. They were laughing together. They were happy. Emme was happy.
It's all Emme ever wanted. She had it all. She had her complete heaven. She'd be sipping on mint tea reading a romance. Her gram and Noah would be off playing in a meadow.
"Do you really want this," a old, melodic voice asked. She recognized it as her gram's voice. She answered with a chaste nod. A sigh sounded from her gram.
Emme glanced at her grandmother. She saw the way gram looked at her. A saddened expression was etched onto her face.Emme groaned with impatience. What did her gram want now?
"Emme... you need to go back. There are people that need you. Want you." Suddenly Noah the precious rain over to the two ladies.
"Momma, you-you need to go-go back," Noah stuttered out.
Simultaneously, a grand pain started nagging at her arm. A burning sensation began in her stomach and the pain worsened.
Cam's POV
Cam stood at the edge of the hospital cot and watched the comatose girl in front of him. A tube fed into her mouth to help her breathe. It has been days since she last uttered a word to him. That was at the gala.
God, how Cam missed Emme. Her and her antics. A tear slipped past his eyelids and fell onto the white sheets of the cot. Then more followed suit.
And soon enough a sorrowful groan escaped as he fell to his knees and sobbed for the dying girl in front of him. It was first time he actually let a tear slip past his eyes since he was eleven.
But Emme was worth his tears. She was worth everything to him. He has had a crush on her since the ninety grade. He has been in love with with her ever since they first talked. Which was a year ago. They were at a party and she was drunk. Very drunk. And they hooked up.
Emme was different when she was intoxicated. She had a contagious laugh. Her whole persona was just... the best. Just like she is, even when she isn't drunk.
Cam forced himself up off the floor and raced towards his car, searching for his his keys all the while.
When he was finally able to get into his car, he floored it. He raced off to nowhere. But nowhere takes you to the very best somewhere.
And that was a secret place that was special o only him. This was the only thing he loved more than Emme. And he loves Emme. Like, a lot.
Then his phone rang.
Emme's POV
She screeched in pain. It was a searing pain now. All over her body. It had spread like an infectious disease. It was a raging wildfire that engulfed her.
Emme looked at her gram for help. But neither Noah or her gram were there.
"Prove them wrong."
Vee's POV
It is on the news. It's even in the newspaper. It is everywhere. It is Emme. The girl that feigned happiness was in the hospital for suicide attempt. And possibly not coming back. Possibly... dead.
Tear soon began to form in her eyes. And one by one, they spilled. And Vee screamed. The pain of losing someone, even if they rejected her, was unbearable.
You see, when Vee and Emme were younger, they were close friends. Emme must've forgotten. But Vee didn't.
Vee would never forget the good memories. They played. They fought. They had good times.
And she would never forget Mrs.Paige. The lady was strict and cared too much for her own good. Everything had to be perfect. Absolutely perfect. She was extremely hard on her daughter.
Oh, and how could she forget Mr. Paige. He was rough around the edges, never approving of Emme. And Emme had it put together that she would attempt to please him as hard as she could. She would get the best grades, paint the best, dress formal. Everything.
Emme is a special girl.
Emme's POV
Blinding white. That's all she could see. And people were rushing around her."Vitals," one of the people asked. Another person handed them a verbal reply.
Emme's vision was hazy. She could hear a distant weeping. She turned her head and caught view of her mother and... and... Cameron? Huh?
He had tears rushing out of his eyes. He was holding Emme's mother.\
And then they looked up.. at Emme.
