"we study our story arcs - inherently good? or were we broken right from the start?"
bad blood, sleeping at last
bad blood - ill feeling
Troy
I'm not at all sure what's happening at this point as I watch the light behind Lucy's eyes die out and Nick's shoulders relax as his words settle in.
"Come on," I hear Nick mumble and the next thing I know is he's guiding me away from the onlooking crowd and the broken-hearted Lucy and further from the pulsing music.
"Where are we going?" I hear the words leave my mouth before I feel my lips moving as I glance over to see a glazed over look in Nick's eyes. "Nick?" The word echos around in my head as the world swirls around me and I try to focus on how fast my heart is beating but I can't feel it anymore.
"We're leaving," He mumbles and I don't try to respond, I just follow the sound of his footsteps. Nick seems so far away now, his body and his mind. We were so close just ten minutes ago. I want to go back to that.
"Where?" I repeat as we reach my car and he opens the passenger door for me and I slip in, flopping into the seat. He doesn't say anything as he makes his way around the car, falling down into the seat next to me.
"Anywhere. I just can't be here." The numb tone behind his words should've worried me, but in this state, nothing can worry me, let alone even affect me. I'm silent as he pulls out of the parking spot and whips down the street, narrowly missing straggling drunk party goers who line the streets.
"Another party?" I suggest, not wanting to leave the entire scene since it's only nearly 11:30. I watch as the corners of Nick's lips turn up in a slight smirk and the smallest of nods makes it known that he agrees. We don't have to drive much further to find another raging party and Nick's quickly pulling into an open, tiny spot on the curb.
"Troy," I didn't even notice Nick suddenly standing outside my door, waiting for me to get out and I just laugh as I attempt to unbuckle the seatbelt I don't remember putting on.
"Jesus, man," He laughs as he reaches around me and undoes it for me, helping me out of the car.
"Is it always this hard to do literally anything?" I question as the ground below me reaches up to meet my shoes walking on the pavement.
"You're fine, don't worry about it so much. I got you," Nick's reassuring words allow me to melt into the absolute bliss that I'm feeling as we maneuver our way smoothly through the dense crowds. We're both almost invisible to everyone else as they're all lost in their own heads as well, while some are lost in others touch.
"Come, sit," I hear a random voice call from below me and before I can tell what's happening I'm being tugged down onto a couch with a gorgeous blonde staring lasciviously at me with deep grey eyes.
"Wanna join?" Her sultry voice seems to seep into every one of my pores as her tempestuous hand finds it's way sliding down my thigh.
"Course," I find myself almost purring as my body completely takes over at this point, my mind disappearing with every touch from this girls fingers.
"Troy," I feel my head being tugged in the direction of that voice and my eyes are meeting with his black, concerned ones in the dark.
"Nick. Are you joining us?" The words slip off my tongue and I can tell I look like an idiot at this point, but I can't bring my face muscles to move or care.
"Wha...joining you with what?" He moves closer to our couch as the girl's grip on my thigh tightens and I feel the muscles in my stomach coil. Nick finally plops down in the chair across from us, his eyes fixed on the blonde next to me who's still working her magic.
