Jason's P.O.V
I can't wait to see Klayre again. I felt really bad about this weekend. I couldn't talk to her because I had to go camping with my family and I couldn't take my phone with me. I forgot to tell her that on Friday. I really really like her though. The first time I saw her at her locker, her hair up in a high ponytail, her arms filled with books, I wanted to just stare at her for hours. Her eyes gleamed a stormy grey with bits of blue and green and her smile was extremely contagious.
Just by the way she stood I could tell she wasn't like the girls at my other school. She was...different. She was almost... mysterious. Her eyes looked as though she was hiding something, something she didn't like to talk about. She was also different with her style and her personality. She looked as though she didn't care what anyone else thought of her. She also had a little bit of flour on her cheek. It was kind of cute actually.
Anyways what was I saying?? Oh right, I was talking about how I was excited to see Klayre. Actually I'm sitting in the cafeteria looking for her. Oh wait, crap I forgot she sits in the gym! Ugh. Okay so I will just have to wait till we get to our lockers to see her. I sit at one of the tables on the edge of the cafeteria, tapping my foot in a constant rhythm, counting the minutes, the seconds until I can see her again. I've never felt this way about anyone before. I wonder if she feels the same way. What will Andrew say? He's my best friend but I don't think I can tell him. Then again if I don't say anything he's gonna know something's up. Okay so I'll tell him later. But what about Klayre? I can't just come out and say something that deep after a week of dating her. She'd probably think I'm crazy and then never talk to me again, and I definitely don't want that to happen.
I look at the clock. 8:05. Ten more minutes. I seriously don't know if I can wait that long. I see Andrew walk through the door and head towards me. Just act natural, I tell myself. "What's up?" I say as he sits across from me. Andrew looks at me like he's investigating me.
"Nothing much," he replies slowly. We stare at each other for a few seconds. "There's something different about you today" he says.
"Different? Nah there's nothing different about me." I look at the clock again. 8:10. Five more minutes. How long can I keep this up? If I don't leave soon I'm gonna burst. We both look at our phones and then back at each other. That's when I notice something different about him. His eyes have a bit of sparkle in them. You think it's just girls who notice that stuff? Nope. Guys notice just as much as girls. And what I just saw in Andrew is very close to what I saw in myself this morning. Oh my god he's in love with Sienna! Holy crap. Okay well I won't say anything to him about it until lunch. I look down at my phone and see that I have a text, but it's from my friend Caleb. Just as I'm about to answer the text I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn and see Klayre standing behind me with Sienna at her side. I swear those two are joined at the hip since I always see them together. But hey I think it's cute and I think Andrew does too. I look over at him and see that he has turned bright red.
"Hi," I say to them. I feel my cheeks getting hot and I smile. Klayre smiles back and I can see her cheeks get red too. She looks over at Sienna and her cheeks are as red as Andrew's. We all stare at each other, four teenagers with bright red cheeks and huge smiles. After what seems like an eternity of happiness, Klayre breaks the silence.
"We should probably go to our lockers or we will be late for class."
"Yeah umm I guess we'll see each other at lunch?" I reply.
"Sure" say the others in unison. We all start laughing and then walk to our lockers. I walk Klayre to her locker and Andrew walks Sienna.
During my morning classes I can't even focus because I'm thinking about Klayre. I'm also thinking about how we haven't had our first date yet. I could make a picnic? No she doesn't like the outdoors. Maybe a movie? No that might insult her because she's deaf. Oh I know! Okay I will make her dinner at my house and then we can go downstairs and play board games and read and listen to music! Of course the music will have to be super loud, so I will need to borrow my dad's speakers. And we will do that right after dinner that way we won't disturb the neighbors. Then we can curl up on the couch in a blanket and talk. I think this will be a good date. But I have to wait till Friday or maybe Saturday.
When lunch comes, I hurry out of the classroom and sprint to the lockers. I throw my things in and speed walk to Klayre's locker. I see her standing on her tip toes trying to put her stuff on top of her locker. I tap her on the shoulder and she about drops her stuff. She smiles though when she sees it's me. "Need some help with that?" I ask.
"Yes please," she says and gives her binder to me. I swiftly put her stuff on top and when I look back at her she is beaming and blushing. I offer her my arm.
"Shall we?" I say.
"We shall," she replies with a laugh and takes my arm in hers. We walk towards Sienna's locker and I notice people staring at us. They're not bad stares, but by the look in Klayre's eyes I can see she doesn't like the attention. We walk a little faster so that we can avoid them a little. When we reach Sienna's locker, we see that she and Andrew are talking in what looks like very low voices but they are smiling so it's not a bad conversation. Klayre is the one to interrupt them. "Sorry to bother you two love birds but need I remind you that it is time to get food? What were you guys talking about anyways?" she says suspiciously.
"Oh nothing we were just discussing a possible double date sometime this week," Sienna says with a smile.
"Yeah we were thinking we could all go to the arcade at the mall and then Klayre and Sienna could go shopping and we could go see a movie or something" says Andrew.
"Okay as much as I love this idea, I love food even more so can we go now please?" Klayre begs. I nod and we go ahead of the other two. As we walk through the line I say "speaking of dates, I was wondering if you are free this Friday or Saturday because if you are I want to finally have our first date-" I notice I'm rushing my words and eventually I'm talking so fast that Klayre has to stop me with her finger. She smiles and nods her head.
"Yes I'm free on Friday night" she laughs and hugs me. I laugh and hug her back. The rest of the day is uneventful and it really gets boring the next day until Wednesday when we have our first double date....
