Sorry for not updating with a Luwoo chapter for a while. So here is one for you!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yuheki and Jungwoo had started spending more and more time together. They were almost addicted to each other. Things had started to get in way of their relationship. Neither of them had actually confessed or admitted liking each other. Jungwoo's family had started to separate and he was left to go to his mother. He didn't dare to tell this to anyone, especially Lucas. On top of that, his mother had made deals with the wrong people, Jungwoo didn't know who, just that the debt was in his hands. She owed a rough $500,000 debt and Jungwoo had barely been able to pay a quarter of what she owed. He knew these people, and when they didn't get what they wanted, things turn sour. And fast.
It was starting to get harder and harder to deal with. But the reason wasn't an expected one. Jungwoo's mother had been admitted hospital 3 days ago and he has taken a week off to make sure she was alright, but he knew that that was a sacrifice. One week off means less money, and not long ago did Jungwoo get a threat to tell him how much time he had left, and it wasn't much. He wanted to tell others desperately but he knew it would put more people in danger then needed and he wasn't ready to take that risk.
Jungwoo was in his mother's room at the hospital. It's white walls covered in paintings and a window looking over Seoul. Trying to hide the pain and death that lied in this room behind fake walls. He was sitting next to his mother, peacefully sleeping, when his mother started talking.
(start music)
"I have never liked hospitals." Her voice was soft and gentle, not hard and cold like it usually was. "They are full of lies and false hope." She sat up and patted the clear space on the bed for Jungwoo to sit on.
" I know what a monster I was to you. I know how badly I treated you and what I did wrong. But I do love you Jungwoo. I'm sorry things turned out like this. I wanted to get better and I wanted to start a normal life for you but I didn't. Jungwoo, don't end up like me, please. Don't overwork yourself for the debt I made and don't reject that boy. You never told me his name, but I hear you when you talk to him." Jungwoo can hear her voice hitching and he feels as though his heart is about to explode.
" You sound so happy Jungwoo like you should be. I know you love that boy dearly and I am stopping you from being with him. Promise me that once I am gone, you will go get him. I know your gay, no matter how many times you told me your straight, I know your friends are worried, I know you have been ignoring that boy. I know this because your my son and I were like you once. But you don't need to hide those things anymore Jungwoo, and when you go home, get some rest. You have stayed in this miserable place for too long." Tears form in her eyes while she holds Jungwoo's hand tightly.
"And for the debt. Under my bed there is a small box, you thought you lost it when you were little. In there should be enough money to cover it and don't hesitate. I don't want you getting more hurt that you already are." Her hand rests on my cheek, wiping the tears that fall from my eyes. She pulls me closer till we are hugging each other.
"Jungwoo" She whispers "I love you, never forget that. No matter how bad I treated you, I still love you and I always will. I don't care if you hate me, but I want you to know that. Your my son and I am your mother. I will always be with you, even you think I'm not. Make a life for yourself Jungwoo, don't live like me. Be happy and start a family. Do what I could never give you. Love." Then she goes quiet. Jungwoo feels the tears fall from his eyes, unstoppable.
"Mum. MUM! Please wake up! Stop joking around with me..please..." Jungwoo hears the beeping stop and the heart beep go blank. "No, no, no, Mum come back! Please don't leave me!" Doctors and nurses rush into the room and Jungwoo is pushed out. He felt his knees buckle beneath him and he fell to the ground. The cold hard impact not bothering him, tear streaming down his face like he hadn't cried in years. A younger nurse came up to him and patted his back.
"Would you like me to call anyone for you?" She asked. Her voice was gentle and calming, not cold and harsh like the other nurses. Jungwoo shook his head. He didn't want support, he just wanted to go home.
"I-I'm okay, thanks f-for asking.." He slowly got up and bowed to her, leaving her standing there nodding, accepting his choices.
All the hate in his blood for his mother had been derived from him. She did truly care about him, she just didn't show it. And the money.
Where had she got it from? Surely she hadn't been working a job behind all this time. No, not with all the trouble she went through. How could she have that much money hidden from him? What was she doing, she had made Jungwoo feel unloved. Hated and despair used to fill him, but now he realized how much she was to him. She knew about everything she tried to hide from him, all those breakfasts, and dinners ready made when he had come home, she had made them. His room was always tidy and clean, but he never did it. His mother did.
She knew about Yukhei, his sexuality and everything else. But she hadn't got mad at him for it. She still loved him, cared for him. It was a relief he didn't live far away. He opened the door but wasn't welcomed with a tidy house. There were papers scattered on the floor, couches and chairs turned. Cupboards had been stripped of what lay in them and left wide open. The bedroom doors were open, all of them. He didn't care about his room but ran straight for his mothers.
He checked where she said the money was and, they hadn't found it. But everything else was torn to bits. He took the box and childhood memories filled his head. Why had she lied to him and said that he lost it? It had the teddy bear he won his first school fair, her engagement ring, Jungwoo's mothers day and birthday cards. Her wedding ring, lies securely in the box it was proposed to her in. He walked slowly into his room and saw they had left it in prime condition. These people were watching him. How did he know?
On his wall, just above his bed, writing a red so deep, it was almost blood, the words 'WE ARE WATCHING YOU' were painted.
