What happened to us? (Hwang Hyunjin Pt. 3)

During work, Hyunjin can't deny that he's bothered by what happened during breakfast. Maybe there is nothing that seemed out of the ordinary but, doesn't it feel weird when they just had their very first argument the night before and none of them even stepped out to mend their situation? It was so unsettling at Hyunjin's point of view. So unsettled that he couldn't focus on teaching choreography and looked like he needed more sleep than the idols he was teaching.

His mind was all over the place and he can't recollect it in one piece. This didn't go unnoticed by his co-worker and ex-member- Chan. The elder could obviously see the struggles of his dongsaeng go through 16 counts of the dance. So when Hyunjin called out for a 10 minute break (in which he was more in need than the ones taking it) he didn't hesitate to come close to the obviously troubled male and speak up.

"Hey, Hyunjin, you okay man? You looked like you just took care of your 4 month old daughter overnight." Said Chan staring at his dongsaeng that appeared to be spacing out that got pulled out of it when he heard his hyung's voice and Chan repeating himself.

"Oh, uhm. Yeah." Hyunjin sighed as his hand ran through his wet locks. "Actually hyung, last night me and Y/N had our first argument." He said with another sigh leaving his lips. Chan looked bewildered at the said news.

"You and Y/N had an argument? What could possibly make you guys fight that made you like- this?"

"Last night when I arrived home from the concert, I saw her sitting at the dining table. She said she wanted to talk about something but I wanted to talk later because I was so tired. She said it was something urgent and I could see she wouldn't stop pestering me about it so I agreed." Hyunjin gave a pause to his words as he recalled last night's events even if his head was hazy from sleepiness. Chan paid close attention while Hyunjin dictated.

"She said that I haven't been giving much time with her because I'm always busy with my work as a choreographer. She said that we were drifting apart from one another. Me, being in a daze from tiredness, thought she was over exaggerating it and we yelled at each other that led to me-" silence....

"What did you say?" Said Chan who was slightly frustrated at the pause.

"I kinda insulted her café and we yelled some more and it ended there."

"So what's made you this sulky?"

"I'm not sulky. It's just that, this morning before I went to work, she was awake before me and prepared breakfast. She acted normal the whole morning that it wasn't even obvious we fought. Is it normal?" Said Hyunjin. Chan raise his eyebrow.

"Are you seriously asking me that? Have you ever seen someone that just had an argument with her lover the day before and was completely okay with it?" Chan said in a stating tone. "Hyunjin, Y/N might act normal but that doesn't mean that everything is okay." Chan reached his hand over his dongsaeng's shoulder.

"I think Y/N was right. You are too busy with work. I know you guys need to work for essential bills but it takes two to make a relationship last. And that is what a relationship really needs." The elder of the two gave two pats on Hyunjin's shoulder leaving the other be with his thoughts. Hyunjin thought more for a bit. Maybe he is away too much. Away from the relationship they both worked hard for.

His thoughts were stopped when the idols called for him asking if he needed to go home. He answered with a shake of his head and when he was asked if he wanted to join them later for an dinner out he didn't think twice before declining politely to the offer saying he needed to be somewhere. He needed someone.

Later after his dance practices, he didn't waste anytime before going home. He expected to see Y/N waiting because no matter how much tired he is from work, seeing his wife was more than enough to give him happiness. And he wasn't going to let that disappear from his life. Entering their shared house, he witnessed it neat just like the usual. He knew that Y/N
closed the shop at 7 p.m and his work ended at 8 p.m.

Not even bothering to place his bag first up stairs, he made his way towards the kitchen, looking for his wife just to see her cooking. A smile made it's way to his lips as if all his troubles got lifted from his body and his world got brighter.

As he was about to come closer and give Y/N a back hug she spoke. "Welcome back." Hyunjin gave a face of surprise. At least he didn't needed to be worried of people just walking in to her unsuspecting wife. So instead of questioning how she knew he was here, he just gave a smile unseen by the other and replied with a small "Yes".

The choreographer stood still behind his wife while still contemplating whether he should proceed with his previous plans of hugging her or maybe it wasn't a good choice at the moment. They were still in no good terms yet. But even before Hyunjin could resort to an answer, Y/N spun around and walked passed her frozen husband to prepare their table.

Hyunjin was hurt to say at least. He was just ignored by his wife. He knew he shouldn't being feeling too hurt about this. She must've felt something worst than this everyday before. Of course he didn't know. He wasn't there.

Y/N placed the plates and spoon in their respective places and placed the kimchi stew she made- Hyunjin's favorite. They ate in silence, awkwardly might I add. Well at least for Hyunjin. It was like how they ate this morning and he's not having it.

His hands got sweaty and stopped eating as he gathered all the courage he could muster up. Taking a deep breath before opening his mouth but another voice beat him into speaking.

"A recruiter called me this morning. They were asking me to star at a new drama as the leading actress. I said yes." Hyunjin stared at Y/N with a perplexed look who just ate continuously without looking at him as she said her words. But he smiled at her. Even if she doesn't see.

"Okay. I hope you have fun! Safe okay." Maybe this is for the better. Maybe this would help things be like how it used to be. Even if he felt uneasy with Y/N returning back to the idol life they have turned their backs on long time ago.

It's for the best right?
