"I don't know, sir." Harry replied meekly. Argh! Why won't he chose me? I thought, waving my hand around. I felt some eyes on me, but I didn't care. A good student doesn't abandon the chance to answer a question!

"Pity. Clearly, fame isn't everything." Proffesor Snape said dismissively I slammed my hand down on the desk I shared with Harry in frustration. Now everyone turned to look at me, including Professor Snape. He raised his eyebrows at me.

"Is there anything wrong, Miss Granger?" He said.

"N-no, professor!" I stammered, feeling my face turn red once again. Getting called off by a teacher! And on the second day of a new school, too!

"Well, then, we should start. Get out your potion textbooks, and turn to page..." I rushed out, wanting to make up for earlier, and accidentally slammed my thick book on the desk. The sound echoed around the now silent classroom. Gulp. I was really in for it, now.

   "5 points from Gryffindor."

"But, professor-!" I started to protest.

"5 points, Miss Granger." Snape repeated.

   "Please-"

   "10 points."

I fell silent. 10 points! I would have rather swallowed a bucket of the foulest thing on Earth then this. 10 points! I swallowed the huge lump in my throat and nodded shakily, sweating immensely. I felt a hand on my shoulder. Harry. He gave me a gentle squeeze before turning his attention back on Professor Snape, who had started going on about some type of potion he wanted us to brew.

"No no no! Stop that!" I snapped, clutching Ron's wand hand to stop it. "You're going to take someone's eye out! And be- sides, you're saying it wrong. It's Wingaarrdium LeviOsa. Make the 'Gar' nice and long." He scowled.

"Well, if you're so smart, you try it then." He spat. Goodness, how could Harry be friends with him?

"Maybe I will." I glared at him. Then I turned my attention to my feather. I cleared my throat. "Wingaarrdium LeviOsa!" The feather twitched, then started to lift into the air. The room immediately grew silent, all eyes trained on my feather, which I was making do loops and twirls in the air.

I snuck a glance back at Ron. His face was still stuck in a scowl, yet there was surprise in his eyes. He caught me looking at him and he growled "What?" I just smirked, and made my feather twirl in the air down to my desk, earning an applause from the class.

"Well done, Miss Granger, well done! 5 points to Gryffindor!" I heard Professor Flitwick's voice over the noise. I beamed proudly.

I staggered back to my dorm from the library, a tall stack of books wobbling in my arms. Suddenly, my foot caught on something, and I tripped and fell, my books spreading all over the smooth marble that was the floor. Oh no! I thought.

I picked up the books and headed on my way when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I whirled around, making the top book slide dangerously to the side. I shifted the books into one hand and straightened the top book before looking up. And was greeted by a pair of silver eyes. As silver as the glossy coat of a wolf. Silver as the silverware in the Great Dining Hall. Wait! What am I thinking! Good things about his eyes?!?! I took a deep breath and said "Uh, hi?" Malfoy blinked, and then blushed.

"I...Is this yours?" He stuttered, holding out a book to me, blushing fiercely. Wait, blush? Malfoy, blush?

   Huh.

   That's a first.
