Hermione
It's been strange. I remember reading a book in the common room. Then Ron and Harry come in. Then, darkness. It's like...someone removed my memory or something.

Well, anyway, after many sleepless nights full of thought, I decided to try and find a cure, if there even was one. After a particularly easy potions class, I headed off to the library.

On the way there, though, it was weird, as if there was another pair of footsteps in the hall besides my own, but there was no one in sight. Meh. I shrugged it off and walked in the large library door, nodding to Madam Pince, who didn't even look up from her book.

I inhaled the scent of musty books, all waiting to be read, and my eyes wandered over to a shelf I was fond of: the fantasy shelf. I enjoyed reading it, although I know it isn't real. But what is real anyway, after what happened just a few months ago? I smiled as I thought about how my expression must have looked like when I first saw my Hogwarts letter. Then I set my jaw. This was no time to be thinking about foolish things. I had to get my memory back. I made a beeline toward the shelf about cures, and saw what I was looking for.

The book titled Memory Spells and How to Brew Them.

I reached out with my right hand to get the book, when it was slapped away by another hand. I turned around. It was Malfoy.

"What the hell, Malfoy?" I seethed loudly, then slapped my hand over my mouth. Madam Pince glared at me. If looks could kill, I'd be on the floor right now.

   Dead.

"Sorry." I squeaked. Then turned back to Malfoy. He just smirked.

"What?" Malfoy asked in a bored tone, leaning against the shelf. Right. On. The. Book. I pursed my lips.

"Well, I was hoping to read that book. The one you are conveniently leaning on." I said through gritted teeth, trying to point to the book I was mentioning without having to touch the idiotic arse. Malfoy got off, and I shot out my hand.

   But he was faster.

"Oh, say, this one?" Malfoy said in that same bored tone that made me steam, leaning back on the shelf and tossing the book from hand to hand. "I happen to want to check this out as well."

"So? We can take turns. And I'm sure my cause is more important than yours. So if you can kindly give..." I said, attempting to snatch the book out of Malfoy's hands, but he held it above his head, where I was too short to reach. Curse my body and the stupid short genes. I stood there, glaring at him. He reminded me of a ferret - pale, twitchy, tall when standing on two legs, with a slightly upturned nose that looked so alike to a ferret snout. I wonder if that's what his patronus is.

Malfoy grins, seeing my submission. "I'll return it in...when I'm ready." He said, starting to walk away with the book in his hand.

"Fine." I muttered. "But don't forget to return it soon as possible! It's the only copy they have left!" I call to his retreating back, earning another glare from Madam Pince.

   He didn't even look back.
