"do you think josh would like me?" zoey asked, sitting down next to jenna on my couch.

"why do you keep bringing him up? do you like him?" kyle teased.

"what? no, of course not!"

jenna playfully hit her arm. "you do! oh my god!"

"it doesn't even matter. he has a girlfriend, doesn't he?"

"his girlfriend is an asshole, just like him." i blurted out, not even realizing it. "i mean–"

"what the hell, ty? you never speak like that about women. or are you just being like that because she's dating josh?"

"she called me something earlier. she was way worse than josh."

kyle immediately knew what i was talking about when i said "she called me something." he always understood.

"she does sound bitchy," he said.

i wonder why josh stayed with her if he knew she was homophobic. if he broke up with her for it, he wouldn't be seen as gay or anything, just defending someone else's sexuality.

and i still didn't understand what i didn't get, and why was josh calmer about it today then he was two days ago?

"so hypothetically speaking, if you and someone else were to have continuous sex with each other, and the person is also trying to get you to like them in general, like being nice, but then you decide to end it, and they say that you don't get it: what does that mean?" i tried to sum up.

"kind of sounds like the person has feelings for you. they like you." jenna said. "was that about the guy?"

so josh liked me.

"no. of course not. just a hypothetical."

"do you want us to leave so you could call him?"

"yeah, i'm sorry."

"it's okay. we get it." kyle answered, and they all left together.

i called josh.

"hello?"

"hey, are you busy?"
