i asked for the rest of the day for myself, and my manager, millie, and photographer said i can.

i called zoey and asked her to meet me at a cafe near shoot. surprisingly, she said yes.

i took a seat by the window, and she walked in almost five minutes later.

"hey, tyler."

i just wanted to get to the point. "why did you spread around that josh was gay?"

"what do you mean?" she asked with an fake innocent smile.

"come on. cut the act. you tipped people off."

"it's not like i brought your name up."

"it doesn't matter. you did a really bullshit thing. i thought you liked him so why would you spread that about him?"

"i wanted to get back at the both of you."

"the only thing you somewhat hurt is josh's career. you're crazy." i scoffed and stood up.

she stood up with me and didn't say anything and left.

i left in the other direction to go home.

i changed into white shorts and a colorful hoodie and sat on my couch and watched a comedy on netflix.

seconds afterwards, there was a knock on the door.

i figured it was kyle. "come back later. i'm not home."

he knocked again but much harder this time. it was banging not knocking.

i went to go open it. "oh my god, i get it, kyle." i opened the door, but it wasn't kyle. it was josh. "oh."

he shrugged it off. "did you talk to zoey?"

"yeah, i actually just came back from talking to her."

"what'd she say?"

"she wanted to get back at the both of us." he hummed in response, and it was a little awkward. "do you want to come in?"

"i can't."

"why?"

"i can't restrain myself around you."

"can we please talk?"

"tyler, i physically can't be alone with you. all i want right now is to get my hands on you, but i'm really resisting that urge because we're not together anymore."

"we-we can work this out."

"maybe we can, but i don't know if we should."

he turned around and walked away.

i closed the door and slumped against it, wiping my eye with the back of my hand.

i looked at the wall and saw a picture of me and josh together. i hadn't taken the three of them down, but it didn't seem like anything was going to happen between us again.

i knocked it down and the other one on the opposite wall. i walked over to the couch and picked up the framed picture of us on the table.

it was the photo of the evening josh asked me out on the beach when he asked a stranger to take the picture for us.

i sat down on the floor and held it to my chest. i felt like crying. i probably was.
