I woke up to the smell of Alcohol hitting my face. I get up and walk downstairs to see my uncle drinking. I walked to the kitchen to see if there was any food that I could have. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THERE YOU BRAT?!" my uncle yelled with his words slurred. "I-I'm just trying to find something to eat." I replied scared shitless. He walked over to me and raised his hand. I suddenly felt a sharp pain on the side of my face. He slapped me. I understand why my aunt left him. "DO NOT GO THROUGH MY DAMN STUFF!! YOU GOT IT?!" He yelled in my face. "Y-yes I get it." I said through my tears. Why would my parents want me here. I hate it already. I run upstairs and curl into a ball.
~*~Three Weeks Later~*~
The past three weeks have been the worst three weeks in my life. My uncle gets more and more abusive. I have a black eye from where I had walked downstairs to ask him something. I am going to school today. Im not here to impress anyone, so I just wear black skinny jeans and a Green Day t-shirt with my black vans. I grab my book bag and walk out of the door without a word to my uncle. My school isn't far so I walked.
Once I reach the school I walk to the front desk to sign in. "Hello Miss. What is your name?" she asks sweetly. "Kyler Grey." I reply with a small smile. "Here ya go." She says as she hands me a small sheet of paper with my class schedule on it.
I walk to my locker to put my stuff away and walk to my first class. I reach my first class pretty quickly because it is right next to my locker. "Hi there." the teacher named Mr. Smith said with a perky tone. "Hi. I think I have this class. Is this biology?" I ask shyly. "Yes it is! You can go sit next to Michaela." he said with a small smile. I walk over to my seat. "Hi! Im Michaela. Welcome to NorthLake HighSchool." She said with a smile. God its great having someone being nice to me. "Im Kyler. Thank you." I reply with a smile. "Kyler. That name is so unique. I love it." she says with a chuckle. I start to giggle with her. Man, laughing again is great. "You have a very lovely name your self." I say with a grin. "Would you like to join me and some friends for lunch?" she asks with a hopeful smile. "Yea, I would love too." I said smiling.

Luckily, I have Michaela in all of my classes. We are currently walking to lunch. I follow her to a table and sit. Shortly after we sit, I hear some boys say "HI MICHAELA!" in unison. I turn around and cannot believe what I am seeing. Its Ashton and the other boys. I stare in shock. Ashton spots me and looks at me with a smile. He looks at me worried as soon as he sees my eyes. The other boys haven't seen me yet. "What happened to your eye?" he asks in a worried tone. "oh, I'm clumsy and tripped walking in the dark." I lied. There was no way I was telling them about my uncle. "Oh, okay." he said unsure. "IS THAT KYLER?!" I hear Calum say. I turn around and say "nope." while giggling. "KYLER!!" They all run up and give me a hug. It makes me laugh even harder. God, it feels so good to laugh like this. "What did you do to your eye?" Michael asks. "I tripped and fell." I said quickly. "oohh, thats okay, I'm clumsy too." he said giggling causing me to laugh.

Lunch was the best part of my day of school. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I caught Luke staring at Michaela. They have so much in common. They would be a cute couple. I got everyone's number. I get a text from Ashton while walking home.
Ashton: "Hey wanna hang at my house? We can watch some movies."
Kyler: "Yea, that would be awesome!"
Ashton: "Okay! I will pick you up in 15 minutes(:"
Kyler: "Sounds good to me! See ya then!"
I quickly change into a hoodie and hear a car horn signaling Ashton was here. I run out and climb into his car. "Hi babe!" he said in a chirpy tone. "Hi!!" I said smiling.
The rest of the car ride is silent. We just walked into his house. "We are going to watch 'The Purge." he said. "oh god but okay." I said scared shitless. "What? Are you scared of a bunch of crazy people in creepy masks?" he asked with an mischievous smile. "Y-yea, just a little." I said shyly, looking down. He walks over to me and pulls my chin up to look at him in the eyes. "I will be right next to you babe." he said with sincerity in his voice. "okay." I said in a whisper. He smiled and pulled me over to the couch next to him. He starts the movie and pulls me closer to him. He lays down and I go with him. Our legs intertwine and he wraps his arms around my body. "You're so beautiful." he says making me blush into a pillow. I feel him chuckle.
Through out the movie, I jump from being scared. Ashton pulls me closer every time. I eventually have enough of the movie and turn my body to face Ashton. "I cannot handle this anymore." I say shaking. "Awh babe." he pulls me closer and I rest my head on his chest. We stay like that for a while and I feel so comfortable and safe with him. "I have to get going but I do not want to leave." I say out loud accidentally, mentally cursing myself. "Its okay babe. If you need to go, I'll take you. I don't want you to get in trouble." he said with a small smile.
"Okay." I said unsure. "Are you okay?" he asks worried. "I'm fine." I said with a small smile.
Little did he know, That 'home' was hell for me.
