31-I Want the Truth

  I appear back in the treehouse sobbing violently after I teleport myself. Someone wraps their arms around me, and I don't even need to look up to know that it's Peter. We sit on the floor together for what seems like hours.
  "She wants me to go with her..." I whisper once all the tears are gone. Peter takes in a shaky deep breath.
  "Do you want to go with her?" He asks me. I shake my head.
  "I want to stay with the Peter I fell in love with before they came to the island. You've been lying to me, you put Baelfire in a cage, what happened Peter?"
  "Audrey, darling, it's all been to protect you. You'll learn everything soon, I promise-"
  "Yeah, you say that, but after all the lies you've given me, how the hell do you expect me to believe you now? Why should I?" I ask, despair filling my words to the brim. I pull away from Peter and stand up, facing him. He gets up off of the ground in a panic.
  "Because I love you," He leans forward to try to kiss me but I step back. A single tear falls from his cheek. "Audrey... everything I've done was to keep you safe." I can feel the tension is his voice.
  "I don't want you to protect me, I want you to tell me the truth-"
  "The truth is more dangerous than you know-"
  "More dangerous than you?" I shoot back. The room falls silent. I can feel the hostility mixed with fright and emptiness radiating off of him.
  "You... you know I'd never do anything to hurt you."
  "I knew Peter wouldn't. But you're not him. I don't even know who you are anymore."
  "I thought you loved me."
  I take a deep, shaky breath.
  "I thought I did too."
