"That was amazing!" Loki said, a genuine grin spread over his face.

I beamed, not sure how to react to the attention "er- thanks"

"May I see it?

When Loki extended his hand I stepped back quickly and held the staff tighter than a teddy bear.

He looked startled "Is something wrong?"

I searched his expression "Nidhogg told me your plan"

A wave of disappointment flashed in his eyes "did he?"

"It's crazy. You can't just kill innocent people to get what you want" my voice held a confidence I wasn't sure I had in me.

Something clicked, Loki now seemed an entirely different person than he was a moment before "Nobody is truly innocent, dear" he stepped forward, but I kept inching backwards until my shoulders touched the wall. "The only way for me to be truly happy is to rule the nine realms, I will do what I wish to achieve that goal."

I scooted the staff behind my back, out of his reach "Power only makes people happy for a while, but your happiness will run out quickly. You'll thirst it more and more and never be satisfied. I'm trying to help you."

Loki grasped my wrist harshly and pushed me against the wall "it seems the only thing separating me from my victory, is you." His cold eyes stared into mine, "give it to me or I will not hesitate to take it by force"

I was standing on dangerous ground, this I knew, but I wasn't going to back down "no" I said firmly.

He grimaced, anger filled his eyes

"How dare you." He growled, his hot breath tickling my face, sending shivers down my spine. "You are still my prisoner, and you will do what I say!"

He released me from his grasp, taking a step back. "Kneel" he said sternly.

This made me angry "I don't have to be ordered around by you"

Loki chuckled softly "your only mortal, you were born to be ordered around. Is that not right? Ever since you were a child you were ordered around by someone. Your parents or a teacher, later your collage professors, or your boss, even the government and the police have almost complete control over you."

"It protects me. It keeps order"

"They brainwash you with those lies. Haven't you ever just wanted to do what you wanted? Without anyone telling you you couldn't?"

I scowled "looking where 'doing what you want' has gotten you? You've lost everything. Your father, your brother, your friends, your home, your honor, and now, you've lost me."

He looked like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode at any moment, but It didn't stop me from talking.

I continued "For a moment I thought you cared. But you only care about one thing, getting what you want."

My words must have struck a nerve, because Loki finally exploded. He grasped my shoulders harshly, throwing me against the wall. Something about this situation held a familiar bitterness. Loki's eyes were just as my fathers were, filled with madness. He grit his teeth as he brought up a hand. I cringed, anticipating the blow, but none came. Instead I felt loki gently release me from his grip.

"What am I doing?" His voice filled with pain.

I stared at him, taking a shaky breath "I thought you were going to hit me, why didn't you?"

Loki's eyes met the floor "I couldn't" he said after a long moment. "As much as I wanted to I just couldn't. Something's wrong with me"

I tried finding words to say but none came, so I let Him struggle to explain himself.

"Ever since I met you I've felt something change. I've started to care about things I've never cared about before. You've brought out a side of me I wasn't sure I still had." His emerald eyes melted with mine as he stood inches from me. "I think-" his voice broke into a whisper "I think I-"

Instead of finishing his sentence, he pressed his lips against mine, making me blush in surprise. It was a wonderful moment, but it ended before I was able to savor it. His lips tasted of fresh blood, it was a taste I was learning to enjoy. He pulled away quickly, not giving me a chance to kiss back. He turned, not wanting to meet my eyes.

"You didn't finish" I said softly, still leaning against the wall.

"My sentence or the kiss?" He asked as he took a glance at me. I saw just enough of his face to realize he was blushing.

"Both"

"I think I love you" Loki said in a whisper, then, his parted lips crashed against mine. I could feel his rapid heartbeat as he pulled me against him, placing his hands gently on my waist. I cupped his face as his raven hair curled around my fingers. I was breathless as an electrifying feeling spread through me, I enjoyed every moment of it.

I pulled away, expecting to see Loki's usual grin, but instead his eyes drooped to the floor.

"But love is weakness" Loki said continuing his last statement "and it's a weakness I cannot afford."

I stared in astonishment "What are you saying?"

"I've decided I'm bringing you back to Midgard, it's for your own good." His voice was pained, but firm. I knew nothing I could say could change his mind.

I couldn't help but argue "Still putting your thirst for power above all else huh?"

"It's not just that, I want you safe. Besides, your a mortal. It would never work."

"Why not? Jane's a mortal"

Loki sneered "Thor's lover? Thor Is naive and foolish. His heart will be broken one way or another" he gave a far off weary look "You wither and you die. Do you expect me to sit and watch as you live out your short life then leave me alone to mourn?"

"Oh..." Was all I could say. I couldn't believe I didn't think of it before.

With his back turned to me he tapped a few commands in the ships control panel "We'll be arriving in a six hours" Loki said, his voice lacking emotion.

When I left Loki didn't even bother to look back at me. Stricken with grief, I decided to go back to my cell. There was no where else really too go. Besides, the walls would be down so it as more like my temporary room than a prison.

As I passed by the man with the beard it reminded me I hadn't asked Loki about him. That's when I remembered I left the staff.

I groaned, then spun around back in the direction of the control room, hoping Loki hadn't gotten to it.

I peeked in to see Loki modeling it to himself with a grin. He slammed the staff to the ground, imitating what I had done in Hel, then chuckled.

"Loki" I said carefully "give it back."

In responds he spun between his fingers and held it like a kings scepter "how about I don't?"

My eyes narrowed "give it back!" I gasped sternly.

Loki ignored me and continued to admire his prize.

I felt my cheeks burn with annoyance. Not sure what got into me, I lunged towards him, gripping the staff "Give it!" I yelled, probably sounding like an little sister fighting with her older brother.

Loki was taken surprised by my actions, but of corse, he overpowered me and held the staff beyond my reach.

"What has gotten into you?" He smirked, as if my behavior amused him.

"You going to use that on my planet!" I panted, still reaching for it "on the people I care about!"

Loki studied me for a moment "fine" he said "I'll offer you a deal. If you can refrain from attempting to stop my plan, I won't use my staff on Midgard"

I immediately stopped struggling and glanced at him skeptically "really?"

His green eyes stared into mine "I give you my word."
