All of us girls from Housing 105 walk to the centre of the colony before saying our goodbyes and walking towards our new homes. After going round the room in the morning I found out I'm the only one in Sentinel training. It's even more daunting knowing I'll not know anyone there than it was just being picked as a sentinel. I struggle to calm my nerves and try to walk with purpose into the Harding building.
The building houses, trains and facilitates for the sentinels and will now be my home, unless I'm the 1 in 3 that die. I change the topic of my thoughts and look at the building. It's gigantic, with mirrored glass everywhere it's like they use it to spy on us without our knowledge. It's weird but beautiful and the inside doesn't cease to amaze me, with a large lobby and more glass it's so spacious I can see up 10 floors. I find the group of recruits and stand beside the least deadly looking person I find. It's a girl of about 5ft6, long blonde hair and nice green eyes, she looks the least bit threatening but maybe that's a good thing. Element of surprise.
"Is it me or do you feel like all the glass is like their way of spying discreetly on us. Make us feel safe even though we have a target on our back just in case" the girl whispers to me.
"I feel exactly the same. Like I'm in a fishbowl" I tell her back.
"I knew I pegged you right. I'm Kayla" she tells me while sticking out her hand for me to shake.
I smile and take her hand before telling her my name.
"Kira. You took the words straight out my mouth"
"If the girls are done braiding their hair and talking about periods why don't you let us men-"
"Why don't I give you a permanent period" I tell douche-pants.
"Or better yet, let me plait your pubes? Oh they've not come through. Don't worry there's a special word for that, it's called mangina" Kayla says.
I hear a cough and uhhum and when I look up I see the most deadliest/sexiest/scariest man I've ever seen.
"My name is Isaac and I am the leader of The Five. I'll be in charge of your training. Line up in size order, smallest in front and follow me"
Great. I'm at the front and closest to Isaac the leader of The Five.
