9.Silent Treatment

6 weeks later

"Has he spoken to you yet?" Kayla asked sitting opposite me on my bunk.

"Not other than 'faster Kira' 'harder 'keep going' 'same time next week'" I reply picking at my blanket.

"Well you certainly move fast" she jokes, twisting my words.

"You know what I mean!!" I admonish and slap her arm.

"Yeah yeah I get it. Why do you think he's being off. He totally picks on you more in class too" she responds and slaps my hand away from picking a larger hole in my already holey blanket.

"I know. He's been a dick ever since I came back from my meeting with Ramsey"

"Maybe he doesn't like him" She wonders.

"Yeah no shit he doesn't like him. He practically shouted and demanded I never see him again. Like that's going to happen. He's delusional" I ramble reminiscing on our encounter.

"Maybe he's truly scared for your safety. Mr Ramsey's obviously dangerous. Before the world went to crap he was like a military general or something like that" She explains.

I go to sleep wondering again why Isaac wouldn't want me to be near Ramsey. I think hard about everything I've seen or heard about him and I finally think of something. The restricted area!

"I got it" I say and sit upright. I swing down to Kayla's bed and wake her up.

"Wake up you giant rock" I whisper, shaking Kayla.

"What? Is it time to get up already?" Kayla mumbles.

"No you spaz, you just fell asleep but I found a reason as to why Isaac might not want me to go near Ramsey." I whisper shout at her.

"What! What is it?" She asks excited.

"Ok I've known about this for a while but forgot about it with everything else - so sorry, but I'm telling you now so it's fine - I'm forgiven right?" She nods "Ok good, carrying on. One of the first few days we were here I couldn't sleep and thought I would go exploring - what?" I ask to her raised brow and defend "I couldn't sleep! Well I was walking and found the lift which you already know about. After that I found this corridor that lead to a restricted area, yes a restricted area. So obviously I would go to it but I heard voices so I hid round the corner and guess who walked around the the other corner-"

"Who"

"Shut up and let me tell you. THE CIRCLE! Joanna, Ramsey, Finley.. All of them! Just standing there talking. Before you ask I didn't hear anything but before I could go in I got caught by Ramsey and Isaac saved my butt but got a telling off from Ramsey and that was the first time I saw him"

"Wow" Is all Kayla says in response.

"I know" I agree.

"What do you think is in the restricted area?" She asks intrigued.

"I dunno, that's why I woke you up now instead of waiting till morning. I think we should go check it out"

"Ooo a midnight walk. So romantic" Kayla jokes putting both hands on her heart and falling back with her legs in the air and kicking them.

"Hush. We need to get out and find it again without getting caught. I seriously cannot be found. Especially by Isaac" I tell her sternly.

"Rodger that chicka" she whispers and tiptoes with me to the door.

"Where are you girls going?"

"AHHH!" We both whisper shout and spin around to face Jake.

"Shit Jake! You nearly scared us to death!" I scold.
