Hiccup's head rested on Astrid's lap. She cried and cried. She felt as though someone had ripped a massive hole right into her heart. What would she do without Hiccup? The boy that worked at the forge. Her best friend that taught her how to train a dragon. Her boyfriend that had saved her life countless times. Her husband that she loved more than anyone could imagine.
She stroked his soft fluffy hair, damp from all her tears.
"I'll swim and sail on savage seas..." she squeaked out, "with ne'er a fear of drowning."
She sniffed and started crying harder and harder with every word. "And gladly ride the waves of life.... If.. if you would marry me.. oh gods!"
Astrid broke down. "Thor! Odin! please bring him back to me. I can't live without him. Hiccup was the last person on this earth that deserved this!!" She shook her head and sobbed. "Why couldn't it have been me?! Take me instead please just bring him back to me!"
Suddenly Ruffnut appeared in front of Astrid. All of Berk knew what had happened. Luke and Callon had ran through Berk screaming the whole story.
Ruffnut had tears in her eyes. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the body of her chief, and one of her closest friends sprawled out on the ground. Ruff would never admit it, but she had always looked up to Hiccup and knew she could count on him no matter what.
She sat down beside Astrid.
"He's gone Ruff." Astrid said in a timeless voice. "I can't live without him. He's my everything."
"He wouldn't want you to do this to yourself Astrid. You and I both know that. He wouldn't want you to tear yourself up. You know what he would want you to do?"
Astrid nodded and got out from underneath Hiccup's still form, kissing his cold lips. "Goodbye." A tear ran down her face and she stood up and snatched her axe up. She pelted in the direction Luke and Callon had ran.
Ruff stood up. "Astrid no that's not what I meant!! Come back!!" She pleaded. But Astrid was gone.
"Oh Thor. Things are already falling apart without you H." Ruff said as she watched Astrid disappear from the cove.
Suddenly Hiccup began coughing. He sat up and gasped for breath. Ruff looked down and there he was!! He was alive!!
"Hiccup!!" Ruff fell to her knees and patted him on the back. "You're alive!! How?!"
Hiccup coughed once more and looked at Ruff. "I have no idea..."
You guys didn't think I'd let Hiccup die did you?! Well nope!! I don't have that kind of strength. Sorry for the cliffhanger!
