(Brandon's POV)
"Brandon, you can't just start pushing people away." , Hunter said bothering me. "Just shut up, Hunter." , I muttered. He sighed, "You know I care about you, right?"
"Leave. Me. Alone." With that being said, Hunter left me alone. Finally. He doesn't want to stop bothering me all fucking morning.
"Boys, it's time to leave!" , mom called from downstairs. We were now going to the ceremony about suicide and even Jamie.I slowly walked down the steps, trying to take up time. "A little faster, Brandon." , Hunter said, coming from behind me. I rolled my eyes. "Ready to leave?" , mom asked. We nodded.
(Hunter's POV)
Once we got to the ceremony, we saw many families there taking their seats, some were chatting with each other. We found enough seats for the three of us and sat down.
A couple of minutes gone by and the Principal walked in the room the ceremony was held in. The parents got quiet as soon as they saw him.
"Good afternoon, students and guardians. Today for this ceremony I'll like to honor the life of Jamie Wilders." God, he's making it sound like she's already dead.
"This poor girl tried ending her life the other day. She was the daughter of a father and a mother, and a friend to one another." A picture of Jamie smiling popped up on the screen.
A couple minutes went by already all that has happened was that people shared their thoughts of suicide. At some responses I became pissed.
"What do you guys think Jamie needed in her life that she didn't have in order to cope with her depression and suicidal thoughts?"
Some people raised their hands. The principal picked some students to respond to the question. A girl said, "I feel like she just needed the feeling of love and acceptance in her life."
"That's a good answer. Yes, miss?" , he chose another student who was a girl too to answer. "Maybe all she needed was an actual friend. But if she were to have a friend, well then I'm guessing that person wasn't good enough for her. Because it sounds like she was craving for someone's attention and try to call out to them that she needed help. I mean think about it, maybe the person, who's her friend just wasn't really good enough for her. If the friend were to know about Jamie's depression and never really said a word about it to anyone to try and get some help, then in my opinion, that would be a shitty friend."
The student's, mother gasped at the word she used. "Language!" , the mother smacked her on the head. "What, ma?? It's true!"
I got up from my seat, angrily and left the room, completely disregarding mom's call.
(Brandon's POV)
"You stay here, mom. I'll go look for him." , I said before leaving. "Okay, stay safe."
I honestly just tried making an excuse to leave the ceremony so I won't have to deal with looking at Jamie's portrait. When I was there, I felt like she was staring me down and looking at me with full of hatred in her eyes.
As I turned the corner of the hallway, I saw Hunter. He was sitting down on the floor, leaning his head against the wall.
"Hunter, what are you doing? I was looking for you." , I asked, coming up to him. "Just thinking." "About?" , I questioned, sitting down next to him. "I wasn't good enough for Jamie, was I?" , he asked.
"Jesus Christ!" , I said, getting irritated. "What!?" "Why is everyone making it sound like she's already dead!?" "What do you mea-" "You're making it sound like she's gone. Like she just vanished and disappeared. You're making it sound Like it had already happened!"
"Why do you even care?? I never even seen you talk to her! So why are you mad??" , Hunter shouted. He was right. He never seen me talk to her at all. It was mostly him, Ashton, and mom.
I only talked to her when they weren't looking. And it wasn't a nice talk for sure, it was more like I was insulting her and beating her.
My thoughts cut off with Hunter speaking. "That's what I fucking thought." As soon as he said that, he began to get up. But before he had the chance to walk away, I grabbed his wrist.
Hunter looked surprised at my sudden action. "H-Hunter..." , I mumbled. "Yes?" "I'm truly sorry," my breathing became rigid. "What for?"
I inhaled sharply before saying an unbelievable apology that ever escaped from my mouth, that can ruin my relationship between Hunter and I, possibly even mine with Ashton and mom.
"For hurting Jamie...physically and emotionally..."
