Fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes without anything. No word, no action, no movement. The only movement that was happening was me pacing back and forth. I started pacing five minutes after Kyle left. There wasn't a word from Kyle in fifteen minutes.
They should have been here by now. It shouldn't take them fifteen minutes to get here.
"John, calm down." Jason said. 'If you keep going at it, then you'll be six feet under and what will I tell your family?"
I huffed and glared at him.
"I'm worried about them. They shouldn't take this long to get here."
"It depends if they are on the other side of the city or not."
"But they all shouldn't be on the other side."
He shrugged.
"Maybe Kyle wants to keep them together before he brings them here."
I sighed at his logic.
"Fine. I'll give them five more minutes." I told him, walking to him. "If they aren't here then I'm going up there to see what's going on."
Just as I was about to sit down, the sound of multiple footsteps echoed through the empty cells.
I quickly stood up and brought you hand up to the pistol that was strapped to my thigh.
I let out a sigh of relief when Kyle walked through the door leading Zach, Liam, Drew, Mark, Tyler and Ryan. From what I could see Liam had blood running down his temple while Zach was holding his right arm.
"Whoa, John. It's us." Mark said.
I gave him a confused look until I realized what he was looking at. I quickly take my hand off the gun and walked to Liam to look at his head.
I may not be a medical, but they did teach us a little about head wounds.
"What happened?" I asked him, reaching out to more his hair from the wound. Which proved to be a bit difficult since his hair was matted with dirt and old blood.
"When the bombs fell it made the wall of a building fall and a piece of clay came down and hit me in the head." he winced.
"Okay." I said, looking at the half inch gash on his head. "It doesn't look like it's deep, but head wounds also tend to bleed a lot."
He nodded in agreement.
"But I'm more concerned if you have a concussion or not." I told him, removing my hands. "I want you to shake your head back and forth ten times."
He did as he was told and immediately stopped. He groaned and clutched his head.
I sighed and nodded.
"Okay. Just sit next to Jason and wait until I have more information."
"Okay." he mumbled and made his way to Jason, who was still in his spot on the ground.
I looked at my crew to see Chris look over Zach for anymore injuries.
"Who are they?" Ryan asked, nodding towards Mendoza and Ali.
"They were our spies." I simply replied. "Don't harm them."
He nodded and went to stand by Nick.
"Have you guys heard anything unusual?" I asked, turning to my Lieutenants.
"What do you mean?" Drew asked, giving me a confused look.
"Besides people screaming, guns firing, and the bombs falling, did you see anything unusual."
There was silence, every man lost in their own thought.
"I thought I heard a helicopter near the gates of the city." Tyler spoke, breaking the silence.
Every head turned towards him.
"What?" he asked, looking at us in confusion.
"Did you see anything?" Jason asked him.
He shook his head.
"No, sir." he said. "I just heard the chopper."
"I saw five guys walking towards the gates." Mark told us. "One of them was wearing the U.S. military uniform. I was going to follow them, but then the walkie talkie started going off."
Jason mumbled a string of curses.
"Why? Whats going on?" Ryan asked, looking between me and Jason.
"We should tell them." Mariah said.
"Tell us what?" Nick pressed.
I glared at him.
"Shut up and listen." I looked at Mariah and motioned for her to tell them whats going on.
She started with Jason being attacked by Mendoza and Ali and how they became our spies. She ended with us being attack until now.
The Lieutenants looked shocked with all the information they were given.
"Wow. I hoped there would be some action when I signed up, but I didn't expect this much." Spencer mumbled.
"What were you expecting?" Zach snickered.
"A couple fights to break up. Not a whole war." he retorted.
Mark huffed.
"What about back-up? Isn't someone going to pick us up?" he cut them off.
I looked at Mariah.
"Do you have a radio that we can call them?"
"Yeah..." she trailed off.
I gave her a look.
"Where is it?"
"It's back at the tent."
I sighed.
"We'll have to go get it." I told them looking at the ceiling. "I don't hear anymore bombs going off. I will go up and get the radio. The rest of you will stay here. If anything goes wrong." I looked at them. "Push the button." I grabbed my rifle from the ground and moved towards the cell door.
"Hold up, Wolfe." I heard Nick call out. Soon he was standing besides me. "Let's go."
I nodded and walked around the corner, down the hall and up the stairs. My hair stood up on the back of my neck as I reached my hand up to the door.
Something wasn't right.
