Alec looked at the Institute in front of him. Today, Magnus was going to send his family, Clary, and a women named Madeleine all to Alicante. Magnus had second thoughts of sending them after Jace and Isabelle's reaction to their engagement, but Alec still wanted his family to go on with their duties as Shadowhunters.

"Calm down," Magnus said beside him. Alec looked down, and saw that he was grasping Magnus's hand hard, probably breaking it with his vampire strength.

"I'm sorry, but I'm going to see them," Alec whispered. He thought of seeing his entire family since he'd been kicked out. They were already disgusted with him being gay before they hired Augustus, even more now that the fish like warlock put the spell on them. But, now that he was a vampire marrying another man.

"Just pretend as if your life is better without them," said Magnus, rubbing the vampire's palm.

"My life is better," Alec replied, kissing Magnus on his nose. "I'm marrying the one I love, and I get to live with him forever by my side."

"I've never been one of speaking the truth," said Magnus, pulling Alec toward the front of the Institute. "But I have never been more in love then any other person in my life."

"Thanks, I think," said Alec, wondering what Magnus meant. They made their way to the metal gateway, were they saw the Lightwood parents, Jace, Isabelle, Max, and a young women about his parent's age with silver hair, that he assumed was Madeleine. Maryse and Robert were talking to each other, in private, but Alec could hear them with his vampire hearing; "Now we have faggot son who's a vampire! Just pray Isabelle and Max learn from this so that we can have some bloodline," Robert whispered to her.

"But remember, Isabelle's into Downworlders," winced Maryse.

"It's a phase for her," grumbled Robert. "I had the same thing once, but then I met you and felt completely disgusted with myself."

"Do you think Alec's the same way?" Questioned Maryse. Robert looked like he was about to awnser, but Alec cut him off.

"No, it's not a phase for me," he said as his old family stared at him with a certain look that only Lightwoods could pull off. "In fact, I'm marrying the warlock that helping you." He felt kind of proud of himself. Acting as if he had more power then them. If they were rude to him, he could snap his fingers and they would be stuck here.

"What are you doing here fa-" Isabelle was cut of by Robert placing his hands on her shoulders.

"Pleasure to see you again Alexander," said Robert in a polite tone. Alec saw Jace walk toward the bushes, and was able to see Simon with him. He paid no attention for his father, and heard that Clary wouldn't be coming.

There goes the one Shadowhunter that accepts me, he thought to himself. After the encounter at Taki's, Magnus and Alec told Simon and Clary about Augustus and his curse on the Lightwoods and of them going to Idris for the Book of the White. At first Clary and Simon only thought of engagement, then they focused on their hatred for Augustus Spark. Clary told Alec that when they got to Ragnor's, to send her a fire message.

A shriek echoed behind them. Alec whipped around and saw Forsaken. They piled on the lawn on Institute, their black skin shined with sun rays. Most were armed with maces and katanas. Magnus yelled to Alec to a wall of the Institute, as the Shadowhunters screamed the names of angels, and pulled out glowing Seraph Blades.

"I'm almost done, but I need you protect me," he told his fiancé, who nodded and started to rip out the throats of the Forsaken. Alec felt sick, the ichor tasted bitter. Like darkness, he thought. Alec watched his family as they fought. Isabelle beheaded two Forsaken with her electrum whip, stabbing another with her seraph blade. Maryse and Robert held back Max, who was crying with fear. Both had blades that slew four Forsaken at a time. Alec then saw Jace run from the bush with two blades in hand, killing two with one blade and three with another. Simon stood at the bush, watching through the mist.

"The Portal!" Alec turned to Magnus, who had blue lightning flying out his hand, hitting a black square that shone like a mirror with fire trapped inside. "Go through the portal!" Alec saw his mother pick Max up, and ran to the portal. She shot him a look that made wince as she walked through, dragging Max with her. Soon, Robert dragged Isabelle, who had long scrape on her arm, to the portal. A Forsaken then appeared from the mist, running after them. Alec wanted to help her, but he knew that if Magnus got hurt or died, the portal would close, and Alec would lose everything worth living for.

Simon, the nerd that Alec thought was in love with Clary, then race toward the Forsaken who wield a double side knife. He tripped over the body of Madeleine, who had her throat silt. The Forsaken lost entrance with the Lightwoods, and headed toward Simon.

"Simon, move!" Yelled Jace as he ran toward the Forsaken with the seraph blades in hands. The Forsaken, still managed to strike him in the leg. Isabelle cried out as Jace brought down his blade on the Forsaken's back.

"This is your fault," she yelled toward Alec. "You could have saved him but sacrificing your sin of a life!" Robert shot him the same look that Maryse did, and went through the portal, pulling Isabelle with him, as she kept yelling toward Alec. Forsaken warriors kept coming through the hole in the stone wall. Jace hauled the limp Simon over his shoulder, and raced to the portal. Alec watched as his former parabatai gave him a death look, and struck him the middle finger as he ran through the portal.

"Alec," said Magnus, closing the portal. "We need to get out of here!" Alec nodded, and grabbed the warlock's hand. Magnus gripped the vampire's hand, as Alec raced in between the Forsaken. He shot bolts of lighting and balls of fire toward each one of them, making them wail in agony as they perished. Alec soon raced out of the gates, as Magnus fixed the stone wall. There were no more Forsaken, and his family was safe.

"You okay?" Asked Magnus, dusting off his leather rainbow pants.

"Okay, I guess," Alec replied, thinking of Isabelle's words. Magnus wrapped his arms around him, and Alec melted into him. He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream until his vocal cords snapped. But, he also wanted to be strong for Magnus.

"Let's go home. We need to get ready to go to Ragnor's," suggested Magnus, pulling Alec away from him. He nodded as they started to head toward the loft.
