Gwen's P.O.V
I knew that Jake was given Alec the death glare and feeling insanely jealous that I was talking to him, but I couldn't avoid Alec. We had become friends yesterday and just because my boyfriend thought Alec looked good enough that I could like him didn't mean that I should avoid him forever. That's what I told Jake and he said that as long as things didn't become romantic between me and him, he wouldn't care about it.
Obviously this wasn't true. I tried to ignore his intense stare as I talked to Alec and agreed to hang out after school until his other plans came into play. He didn't tell me what these other plans were though, and I was actually pretty curious.
So, I walked out of the building once school was over and there Jake was, waiting to walk home with me and everything. I bit my lip as I approached him. "Um... Jake, I actually have plans with someone else today so..." I cleared my throat awkwardly.
"Alec." Jake growled, shaking his head and looking away.
"You do know that we're just friends, right, Jake?" I said, taking his hand into mine and with my other hand I pulled his face back towards mine. "I am YOUR girlfriend." I told him, looking him directly int he eye.
Alec walked out of the building and Jake pulled me into a deep, long kiss, obviously to tell Alec that I was off limits. I pulled away and looked at Jake, giving him an exasperated sigh before shaking my head. "See you tomorrow, Jacob." I told him, squeezing his hand before walking off.
"What was that all about?" Alec laughed as we walked away, Jake glaring at our backs.
"He thinks that you are going to steal me away from him, I suppose." I laughed back.
"Oh, darn, my plans are all spoiled!" He grinned down at me and I grinned back up at him. Alec seemed really weird at first, but once you got to know him, he was actually a really cool dude. He was funny and way nice, the kind of guy that would hold open the door for you.
We walked towards one of the small cafes in the town, the most popular one besides Starbucks. Alec held the door open for me and I gave him a smile before walking inside and picking out a booth to sit in. We ordered ourselves a coffee and some red velvet cake, something they specialized at making.
"So tell me more about your obsession with cello." Alec said between sips of his coffee.
I shrugged. "Not much to tell. After my parents got into a divorce, I steered clear of them and my older brother taught me how to play. Ever since then it has been a sort of passion of mine. I like to write my own music, test out different styles, make covers of my favorite songs... You know." Talking about cello reminded me of Jake's and mine first special moment together.
Alec nodded. "Your brother sounds great. When do I get to meet him?" He asked.
To tell you the truth, my older brother ran away months ago when he thought I was old enough to 'take care of myself'. I haven't heard from him since last month, I don't even know if he's alive or not. I liked to act as if he was still here, with me, I mean. Thinking about him being gone, as in having runaway, is too painful for me.
"Oh, sooner or later." I replied, adding in a soft laugh to make it sound like I was making a joke or something instead of telling a lie. Alec would never meet him... At least until he comes back home. But I doubt that he ever will.
Alec told me all about his passion and how he wants to become a scientist someday. It was pretty interesting but definitely not anything I would like to do one day. It turns out that Alec was super funny, but I kept thinking back to Jake. Alec was nothing compared to Jake.
