Don't Let Go

Part Eight

"Wait. What?" Kristoff says.

Rapunzel stares at her mother, equally shocked. "Mother, what do you mean?" She asks.

"I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth," Arianna says.

"Wait, wait wait... Hold on a second," Kristoff says, holding up his hands. "That's not possible, I was born in Arendelle. I've been there my whole life. My parents abandoned me!"

"We didn't abandon you, sweetie," Arianna says, the tears beginning to trickle down her cheeks. "It... It's actually kind of a long story."

Kristoff is still completely confused. But it's Rapunzel who asks the first question. "What makes you think this is your son? You've never told me you and Dad had another baby."

Arianna is about to respond, but Kristoff stops her. "I really have no idea what is going on here, but we honestly don't have time for this. The girl I love is dying, okay? We have to get moving!"

Rapunzel turns back to face Kristoff. "But I told you, I have no idea if my powers have returned!"

Kristoff sighs exasperatedly. He looks around the room until he finds a potted plant in a small, ceramic pot. Without hesitation he picks up the pot, throws it on the ground, and then takes one of the broken shards and cuts the palm of his hand with it.

"What are you doing?!" Rapunzel gasps.

"Heal it," Kristoff says, holding out his bleeding hand to her.

Queen Arianna and Eugene look pretty surprised. Even Pascal hides his eyes for a moment. Rapunzel is still terrified, but she doesn't want this man to bleed to death. "Okay, okay," she says. "I'll... I'll try." She takes his hand in hers, and places some of her hair on top of it. It's a little more difficult than she's used to, because her hair is so much shorter, but once she feels comfortable with it she takes a shaky breath, closes her eyes, and begins to sing:

"Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine.

Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine.

Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design.

Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine.

What once was mine..."

Rapunzel is hesitant to open her eyes, but she forces herself to once she feels Pascal poking her cheek. She does so just in time to see the familiar glow in her hair fade away. She takes her hair off of Kristoff's hand, and discovers that his cut is completely gone, not even a scar is in its place. She looks up at Kristoff, who has a completely shocked expression on his face.

Rapunzel almost feels the urge to cry. So her powers are back... She once again has magical healing hair. Now what is she going to do? Everybody will find out, and they will all want so much from her! Plus, there are a lot of crazy people out there who may want more from her than she is willing to give.

Eugene recognizes this look on his wife's face, and wraps her in a comforting hug.

"Wow..." Kristoff says, still in awe. But he shakes himself out of it and says, "Please Princess, come with me and save my girlfriend. Save the princess of Arendelle."

After a moment Rapunzel pulls herself from Eugene's embrace, and wipes the tears from her eyes. "Okay," she agrees. "I'll come."

"I'll come too," Eugene says.

Pascal nods.

"I'll come as well," Arianna says. She glances at Kristoff as she says, "I'll explain everything along the way."
