Chapter 8⃣: Campfire Conundrums

Amber's POV

"Wake up. Wake up! Wake up!"

"What the-"I said as I banged my head on the top of the bunk."Ow. Holly..."

"What? C'mon! People are already heading down to the cafeteria!"

She took my arm and dragged me out of bed. I stood up and wiped the dust off me. Holly threw a pair of shorts and my Camp Illiana shirt at me. I changed behind a curtain, making sure that Trevor wasn't around.

Holly ran ahead of me to the cafeteria. I took a small scenery walk. Addie ran up next to me.

"Sup short stuff!"she said, looking down at me."Nice day, huh?"

"Don't keep thinking it,"I said, looking up at the sky."Those clouds could become storms."

She nudged me."Really? You think? I doubt it, horse."

"Oh stop with the nick-names."

I was about to open the door when a familiar face greeted me.

"Dan!"Addie said."Oh gosh. Just sounded like a One Direction fan-girl. Hi."

I laughed as I sat down with my regular group. Holly, Ty, Jenny, Adam, Addie, Jordan, Andrew, and I. Enti and Jason also sat with us. The smell of burning toast filled the room.

"Get your breakfast before you don't get any!"the chef-Chlo was it?- hollered.

We scrambled up at a top speed. Jay accidentally stepped on Flame's foot with her high heels. Flame yelped and leaned back on me. Jay smiled.

"Sorry,"she laughed.

Flame looked at her."Maybe you should be more careful."

"Me? Careful? I live on the adventurous side."

"Adventurous? Pshaw. You scream at the sight of a bug."

"Yeah? Pax me brah!"

"That's taking it a bit too far-"Jordan said.

"CANT TAME MEH!!"Adam screamed and it shut everyone up.

We carefully sat down. Jenny eyed Adam down as he chewed slowly on his burnt toast. Perfect pair...OTP! OTP!

I stared down at my food."Is this...food?"

"Could be better with maple syrup,"Addie said, taking a bite.

"So you're saying that isn't a stereotype?"Andrew asked.

"I mean it is, but I just love it."

"Can't say I don't,"Enti laughed.

I took a bite and immediately spit it out."This is worse than my mom's gluten free waffles!"

We shared a small laugh.

"Guess your fasting,"Jason nudged me. I laughed.

"Hey! Can I get everyone's attention!"Admin shouted.

I looked over at my 'sister'. She had to be a troller. A trickster. An illusionist. Everyone quieted down.

"Can we get everyone to head down to the campfire tonight. We've got a few announcements concerning teams and such."

Teams? I thought. How do you make that fair? There's nineteen of us.

"Okee!"she clapped."Resume!"

I turned back to the group.

"There's something wrong with this place,"we all chimed.

We eyed eachother down.

"Nineteen though? She's got something up her sleeve,"Ty clenched his teeth.

"No kidding,"Adam agreed.

"I just gotta add, if she wears a long sleeved shirt tonight, I'll eat my shoe,"Andrew bet.

I followed Seto down to the ocean. The sound of crickets sounded around me. Chills ran down my spine. Even for summer it was cold.

We sat down together. Admin was wearing what you would expect. A long sleeved shirt. I nudged Andrew.

"I guess you're eating you're shoe tonight."

He rolled his eyes.

"Thank you everyone for attending! For purposes, we will be dividing people up into groups. Team Erie and Team Huron. You will compete in competitions together. In competitions, which ever team looses will have to vote someone off. Whichever team wins is safe for that week.

"Now for Team Huron. Andrew, Jason, Addie, Jordan, Adam, Jenny, Holly, Ty, Amber, and..."

Tension hung in the air. I was begging for it to be Enti.

"Uh...Seto!"

I sighed, knowing that my best friend was on the other team. I couldn't talk to her on a regular basis. We would have to be sworn enemies.

"Which leaves Trevor, Tiffany, Shane, Jessica, Flame, Ian, Dan, Enti, and Jay for Team Erie!"

"Wait, wait, wait,"Jessica said,"that's only nine people versus ten."

"Oh. Pfft,"Admin laughed."I totally forgot! Come on out!"

A person stepped out from behind a tree that left us questioning,"What the ****? Aren't you supposed to be dead?"
