21. Metaphorical disney princesses

Leo's P.O.V

"Stop it, you two. Some of us are trying to eat," I grumbled at Tilly.

"You'll understand why people kiss when you have a girlfriend," she tells me.

"I have a girlfriend, remember?" I say.

"She's not really yours, though, is she?" Tilly says. "I mean, she's upstairs with Charlie when she could be with her boyfriend. What does that say about your relationship?"

She has a point. "Shut it, Tilly," I grumble, putting in my headphones and watching a Janoskians video on youtube.

Tilly comes and looks over my shoulder. "So people kissing puts you off eating but rainbow vomit doesn't?"

I ignore her, and eventually she leaves me alone.

Where are Naomi and Charlie? A part of me doesn't want to know, but I take out my headphones and walk upstairs.

I check Charlie's room, but it is empty. So is his parents room, and the spare room. Creeping into Brooke's room, I see them sat next to each other on the end of Brooke's bed.

"And Cinderella put the shoe onto her foot, and do you know what?" Naomi says.

"I know what happens," Brooke says.

"This version is different," Charlie tells her.

"Cinderella looks at the prince, but he isn't the prince that she met at the ball. It's the wrong prince! She throws the shoe on the floor and it hits the impostor prince in the face," Naomi continues.

Brooke laughs, and I turn away. Are we decribing our relationships with metaphorical disney princesses and princes and shoes?

"Cinderella runs to the palace and the prince is there waiting for her, the right prince. She kisses the prince and they get married and live happily ever after." Charlie smiles.

"Night Brooke," he whispers, and kisses her on the forehead.

"Night Brooke. Nice to meet you," Naomi says, and they both leave the room after carefully shutting the bedroom door. By then I am back on the sofa with my earphones back in.

"About time," Tilly says. "Lover boy got all worked up." She prods me with a lollypop.

"Sorry Leo," Naomi says, sitting down next to me. "We were telling Brooke a story."

She kisses my hair and Charlie looks away.

"I'm going to bed," he states. "Is everyone staying the night?" Everyone nods and follows Charlie upstairs.

"Boys in my room, girls in the spare room," he says tiredly.

"Come on, Charlie," Tilly grumbles.

"Sorry Tilly. If you don't like it you can leave."

"Someone's stroppy," Tilly says, raising her eyebrows.

"Shut it, Tilly," Livi says, and surprisingly, she does.

We all change into our pyjamas, and me, Charlie, and Jared go into Charlie's room.

Charlie gets into his bed and me and Jared have sleeping bags on the floor.

Charlie falls asleep instantly and starts snoring quietly.

"Leondre, is it?" Jared asks.

"Yeah," I reply.

"Cool name."

"Thanks. Yours is too."

"Yeah. How long you known Naomi?"

"Few weeks, couple of months, maybe. How long have you known Tilly?"

"I met her at that party."

I grimace. "That delightful party."

"Oh yeah," he laughs. "You had a punch up with Charlie over Naomi."

"It's not really any of your business, is it now?"

"Whatever you say."

"I get the feeling you don't really like me," I say.

"I'm not mad about you, no."

"Please can I just go to sleep?" I grumble.

"Whatever."

Charlie's P.O.V

I fell asleep quickly, way before the other two; but this results in me being wide awake at twelve o'clock. My parents still aren't back so I get out of bed and am about to put the tv on when I see Naomi crying on the sofa.

"I don't know. I don't know what to do." She says. I realize that she is speaking on the phone.

"No. Yes, I do, but not enough. It's not that easy, Soph." She pauses.

"Yes. Definitely. More than anything...But I can't do it. I can't."

"Ok. Of course I want to. He does. Ok. Ok. Thanks Soph. Sorry for calling this late."

She puts down the phone and wipes her eyes on her sleeve. I want more than anything to reach out and hug her but I can't. That's Leo's job now.
