"But it doesn't make sense," Castiel says. "There's absolutely no way that loop could have started."

"It had to have been a time loop," Aaron "How else would Donnie have known who Frank was and what costume he was going to wear and that he got shot in the eye if he had never seen the end of that month before?"

"But the loop ended with Donnie dying in the house," Castiel says. "If it was a true loop, it would have ended with Frank trying to convince him to leave, and Donnie would have had to ignore him to die there. All the vague memories people have would have been there the first time, too. It has to have been a singular occurrence, and Frank was a figment of Donnie's imagination —"

"So Donnie just happened to imagine the future?" Aaron asks. "No way. It's because he's schizophrenic, so the memory of before the time travel stuck with him, and he only remembered it though hallucinations when he was either sleeping, drugged up, or hypnoti—"

"Castiel?"

Both boys look up from their heated debate to see the infamous Lisa Braedon at their lunch table.

Castiel cocks his head to one side, squinting slightly. "Hi?"

"Mind if I sit?" Lisa asks, gesturing to the spot next to him.

"Uh, no, go ahead," Castiel says, even though he does mind. He and Aaron were in the middle of a very heated debate about Donnie Darko, and he did not want that to end so abruptly without reaching a final conclusion.

Lisa sits down by his side, twisting on the bench to look at him. "I don't think we've ever actually met. My name is Lisa."

"Castiel," he replies, then mentally kicks himself for it. She said his name when she cane over here. Of course she already knows it.

"Do you know Meg Masters?" Lisa asks.

Castiel nods.

"Well, we're pretty good friends," Lisa says. "And I was talking to her, and she mentioned how she wants you to ask her to prom."

"Why didn't she ask me herself?" Castiel asks.

"Because she wants you to ask her," Lisa says as if that makes any sense. "You two have fourth block together. You should ask her then."

"I'm not going to prom," Castiel says, and as soon as he says it, he realizes how stupid it must sound. That's not even a real answer. A real answer would have been some variation of no. What the hell is his problem? Why can't he socialize like a normal person?

"Well, now you are," Lisa says. "Come on. Meg wants to go with you. You'll be prom king and queen for sure."

"I'm sorry, I'm not interested," Castiel says. That sounds way too fake and formal. He could have done much better if he had had time to think about this, but put on the spot like this, he just can't.

"What? How?" Lisa asks. "It's Meg Masters. Everyone's into her. And she wants you, specifically."

"I'm just not interested," Castiel says. "I'm not going to prom. I'm sorry."

Lisa opens her mouth to say something, then apparently decides there's nothing to say, and she just walks away instead.

"Dude," Aaron hisses once she's far enough away that she can't hear, "What the hell?"

"What?" Castiel asks.

"You just turned down Meg freaking Masters!" Aaron says. "Every single guy in the school wants her. Hell, if you had said yes, I would have done all the talking for you."

"I thought you weren't going to prom, either," Castiel says, confused.

"If I got to hit up Meg Masters, I would definitely go to prom," Aaron says. "Maybe it's not too late. It's not like Lisa asked for Meg. She just mentioned that Meg was waiting. Maybe if you still ask her later — oh, crap."

"What?" Castiel says quickly, following his gaze.

Lisa is sitting down at a table not very far away, and Meg sits next to her, tears streaming down her face. Castiel has to fight the urge to roll his eyes. She's so dramatic. They barely even know each other, for god's sake.

"You have to go apologize," Aaron says.

"Why?" Castiel asks. "She'll be over it in a day or two. If I go over there, I'll just make things worse."

"Not if you tell her you were wrong and would love to go to prom," Aaron says.

"But I'm not going to prom," Castiel says. "And definitely not with a drama queen like her."

Aaron scoffs. "I can't believe you're even a person that exists. It's Meg Masters, Castiel! Go talk to her!"

"No," Castiel says firmly. "I'm not into her. I don't get why anyone is. That's final."
