Sorting

As they exited the train they heard a loud voice, "Firs' years, this way. Firs' years."

"Come on guys. That's Hagrid."

Teddy led the way and joined the group already gathered around the half giant.

"Hello Teddy lad," Hagrid called.

Teddy waved back as Seth said, "You know him?"

"Honestly I know a lot of people here. Teachers and all I mean."

"Like who?"

"Trust me its a long list," he said with a half-hearted smile.

The first years made their traditional crossing of the lake in the little boats. Teddy couldn't help but wonder what his parents first thoughts of the school were. As they reached the top of the marble staircase Ginny Potter was waiting to meet them.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. In just a moment you will be sorted into your houses. The houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. While you are here your house will be like your family..." as she continued with her speech Teddy's mind drifted to his Dad. What must that have meant to him to hear that he wondered.

Then he felt an elbow in his ribs. He looked up to see Ginny staring at him. "Are you ok?" she asked. Teddy looked around confused at why she was asking.

"This way then," she called. The first years began to file into the Great Hall. She paused to speak to Teddy. "Your hair changed colors as well as your eyes. I've never seen your eyes do that."

"What?"

"Well they were kinda glowing a golden color and your hair went bright green," she laughed.

He smiled at her and followed the other first years. Now that he was here in front of the entire school he wondered what house he would be put in. His dad had been in one and his mom another and his grandmother a third.

"Teddy Lupin."

He heard people start to whisper but chose to look at the high table instead. There sat many adults that he cared about. He sat down and the hat was placed on his head.

"Hm, let's see here," he heard the hat whisper. "Good mind, a hunger to learn and brave. A legacy huh. So where to put you?"

Teddy thought really hard, "Please let it be Gryffindor!"

"It means a great deal to you I see. Ok," the hat whispered and then yelled, "Gryffindor!!!"

Teddy took the hat off and made his way to the Gryffindor table. Only then did he notice that Hannah and Seth were also there.

Once the sorting was finished the feast began!! Teddy was happy that Hannah and Seth were in the same house with him. They talked to each other and their fellow housemates. But Teddy couldn't help glancing up at the High Table. His godfather and several other adults that had known his dad were seated there. In fact, his DAD had sat there. He was in the same house as his dad. Was sitting at the same house table that his dad had sat at.

"Hey Teddy your mood ring is going off again," Seth whispered in his ear. He snapped back to reality and saw that several people were looking at him. He decided to play it off and changed his hair to bubblegum pink with a laugh.

Once he had eaten his fill Teddy found himself watching the High Table again. He saw that Harry was looking at him and tried to let him know he wanted to talk. Harry excused himself and stood up and stepped toward a door behind the High Table and motioned for Teddy to join him.
