"My name is Remus John Lupin. I am a werewolf and I am your Father. We just found out today that we were going to have you. So many things are going through my mind. First of all I have to admit to you that I am terrified! There are so many things that could go wrong.
My biggest fear is that I have doomed you to the same curse I bear. We will not know for a while yet. You aren't even here, yet I already love you! There is a chance that you will be a werewolf. If you are there is a chance that you will not survive through the next full moon.
It kills me to think that I may be the reason, the cause of my child's death. And if you do survive you will be forced to endure a life of pain, torment and suffering, not to mention the prejudice and solitude, the rejection that are a werewolf's life.
And even if you do not inherit my lycanthropy, which I am praying is the case, there is the fact that you are coming into a world being torn apart by war. Your Mother and I are both members of a group known as The Order of the Phoenix. The purpose of this group is to fight against Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. This is the second war that we have fought against them.
The first war ended on Halloween 1981. For most of the wizard world that day is thought of as one of triumph and a day to be celebrated. For me, however, that is the worst night of my life."
Teddy put the book down for a moment. His dad was telling him an example of what Harry had said about history not always being the truth.
"Teddy? Are you ok?"
Teddy looked around startled. He had forgotten he wasn't alone. "Yeah, why?"
"Well," Seth began "you have tears in your eyes and you've had all sorts of things going on with your facial expressions and your hair."
"It's strange. My godfather was telling me earlier that what is recorded as history isn't always the truth and I was just reading my dad telling me a good example of it."
"What do you mean?" Hannah asked.
"What do you guys think when you hear Halloween 1981?"
"Easy that's the day Harry Potter defeated Voldemort the first time. It's celebrated as a holiday," Seth rattled off while Hannah nodded in agreement.
"My dad just said that day was the worst day of his life..." Teddy told them.
"Why does he say that Teddy?" Hannah asked.
"I don't know. I stopped reading to think about what he said."
He took note that they both seemed interested to know why his dad said that so he asked, "Do you guys want me to read it out loud?"
"I mean, that's from your Dad man. But I would like to know why he said it," Seth confessed.
"It's ok. It kinda helps to talk about it so I'm not chasing the thoughts around in my own head."
So Teddy began to read the book to them...
"October 31, Halloween, 1981. That night Lord Voldemort was handed the ability to find Lily and James Potter. The Potters were two of my closest friends. They had been warned that they and their son, Harry James Potter, had been marked for death. In an effort to save Harry and themselves they used the Fidelius Charm to hide their home in Godric's Hollow. Sirius Black was named their Secret Keeper. At the last minute, and without telling anyone else, they switched their SK from Sirius to Peter Pettigrew.
Although we had long suspected there was a spy in our midst leaking information, no one thought it was Peter. He had been, or so we thought, our friend in school. We were wrong. Pettigrew handed the Potters over to Voldemort who then murdered James and then Lily and tried to kill Harry. However, when Lily sacrificed herself to save Harry an ancient magic then became Harry's protection causing the Killing Curse to rebound and strike Voldemort himself. With his power broken and having no body, Voldemort fled.
