"He's in a WHAT?!" You practically screeched into the phone, your eyes widening and your mind racing a mile a minute. You could hear Shaun sigh on the other end, already expecting this reaction from you and was prepared to handle it. But you couldn't help it, after not hearing from Desmond for months, all of a sudden his buddy calls you up and says he's in a coma. You and Desmond hadn't known each other for very long, you had actually met at Abstergo back when you were an undercover assassin there with Lucy. She had introduced him, and said he was the new Subject 17 since Subject 16 committed suicide from overexposure to the Animus. But after he explored Altaïr's memories, you and Lucy helped Desmond escape and flee to a safe house in Italy where he relived the memories of the Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore.

The death of your father at Templar hands was what caused you to rethink the whole situation. And after much consideration and a few sleepless nights, you left without a word to anyone except Lucy. Telling her you were going home for a while to think and mourn your father, and that one day you might come back and return to them. You had seen the casualties of war, and you weren't about to put yourself through that pain all over again with Desmond. "A coma, Y/N. As much as I hate to admit it, he needs your help." Shaun was quieter than before, perhaps not wanting to say it too loud in front of Lucy or Rebecca. But whatever it took to get you here, he would say it in a heartbeat. You were quiet for a few moments, stewing over your options and quickly grabbing a duffle bag to shove all your clothes into in a frenzy.

"Where did you say you were again?"

Putting your undercover car in park, you turned off the ignition and hopped out. Walking to the back door of the van, you opened it and got out your heavy bag of medical supplies. You had no idea what kind of supplies Rebecca and Shaun had, so you guessed they didn't really have any and brought everything. Rebecca has told you on the flight over that Lucy had passed, being overly cryptic about how and saying she would explain when you got here and Desmond wasn't around. You had been shocked over the news, not shedding any tears but carrying a heavy heart over the loss of your friend. She had also mentioned that Desmond wasn't really in a coma anymore, but you hadn't been angry about that, you had to come back to them anyway. But you still had one more bag to grab, deciding to just carry in this one and get the other one later. Shutting the door and locking the van, you walked across the grassy forest floor towards the entrance of the cave. The grass was still a little wet from the morning dew collected on the blades and leaves, causing your shoes to be a little damp and squeaky.

Walking a bit more into the cave and transitioning from the forest floor to the flat rocky terrain, you quickly spotted the graffiti covered entrance. Bringing yourself to a halt, you paused as your mind raced with everything that you were about to get into. You hadn't seen everyone in so long, and with Desmond in a coma you hoped your medical background was enough to bring him back. But whatever trials you faced, you would face them together. You crouched down and walked under the door since it was slightly raised off the ground, you stood in awe of your surroundings. (A/N: I know the cave in AC3 has a hill that you slide down, but just for the sake of the imagine just picture the door, then the actual cave) The dramatically high ceilings and huge clumps of what looked like black glass was scattered all around the large open space. You saw cracked staircases and cracked floors everywhere, mentally trying to add up how old this place was.

"Finally! I didn't think you were ever gonna show up!" A feminine voice interrupted your thought process, returning to reality and turning your head in time to see Rebecca making her way towards you. You smiled brightly and set the bag down beside you, happy to see a familiar face. "Hi, Becca." You said, opening your arms and wrapping her into a long overdue hug. "It's been too long, Y/N." She said, her voice muffled by your hair as you chuckled, that guilty feeling settling in your stomach since you haven't called or anything to catch up with them. "I know, and I'm sorry. I should have called you." Rebecca pulled back, holding you by your shoulders. "I understand. Lucy had told me about your father. But the good thing is that you're here no-" Before she could finish her train of thought, she was interrupted by Shaun walking up behind her and speaking out. "Are you just gonna hog her all to yourself Rebecca, or are you gonna let her give me a hug sometime soon?" He quipped, before playfully shoving her aside and engulfing you in a hug. Having to stand on your tippy toes, you squeezed the life out of him. You and Shaun had always been close, almost like brother and sister. Always joking around and messing with each other, cracking jokes and making fun.
