"What about James?"

Shay asked, his hand adjusting slightly higher on your bulging belly to feel the kicking child beneath. He was curled up against your side, his head resting on your chest as you both laid on the bed of your shared home. You scoffed playfully, rolling your eyes in mock annoyance as Shay glanced up at you from under his dark eyelashes. "We don't even know the gender yet, Shay. For all we know, it could be a girl." You suggested, your hands combing through his long brown hair calmed your nerves and took your mind off the painful kicking of the baby. Shay seemed to consider what you said for a small moment, finally growing quiet after the few hours of talking you've both been doing. "But I can feel him, Y/N." Shay whined after a moment and you sighed loudly, taking his hand off your stomach to grab your hands from his hair and gently hold them. He twisted so that he could look into your eyes, finding yourself blushing under his intense gaze as always. Even after knowing Shay for so long and being married to him, you still found yourself blushing whenever he would look at you. You shifted slightly so that Shay could scoot up next to you, him keeping his distance from your swelled belly so as not to hurt it. Wondering how you got lucky enough to have a guy like him, you smiled at the small moment between the two (well, three) of you. Before you got pregnant, Shay was never home really, he was always on missions to find the Box and Manuscript.

You fiddled with Shay's hands, feeling the rough skin slightly scrape against yours from his years of hard labor. "Last time I checked Shay, I was the only would who could feel him." You retorted, your smile fading slightly as Shay paused upon hearing your words pass your lips. "No offense, lass. I'm just excited is all." Shay admitted, his face falling slightly at your comment. You might've came off a little snappy, but you couldn't help it. This child was getting very cramped and kicking you in the bladder, making you have to take around ten trips to the bathroom per day. At night, the baby seemed to calm down slightly, the kicking slowing down and you figured they went to sleep. "I'm sorry." You sighed audibly and Shay furrowed his eyebrows at your apology, turning his body so that his broad chest was touching your shoulder, his head tilting to the side slightly as he awaited your explanation. "I didn't mean to come off as snappy. I've just been uncomfortable lately with the baby." You explained, and Shay nodded slowly as his mind tried to understand. He was a man, how could he truly understand how you were feeling. Women always had it rough.

"No, it's my fault love. I didn't realize-" Shay started to place the blame on himself, and you tsked your tongue as your hand fell on his slightly stubbled cheek. He paused, his deep brown eyes distractingly raised to meet yours and make your heart beat faster. You guided his face towards yours, pressing a light kiss to his lips as Shay smiled at the feeling of his lips on yours. Feeling a big kick, you pulled away from Shay. "Oh, gosh!" You let out a chuckle, and Shay's eyes darted down to your belly from the unexpected change in behavior. He sat up on the bed, turning his body so that he was on his knees as his hands hovered above your belly. "What's wrong? Is everything okay? Did I hurt them? Are you going into labor?" Shay asked question after question, and your lips curled up into a smirk as your hand fell on his. He got quiet upon feeling your soft hand lay on his, glancing up as you guided his hand towards your swollen belly, seeing the baby kick through your cloth tunic. Shay's eyes widened, never feeling anything like it before as his eyes rested on your stomach. "They're kicking, Shay." You smiled wide and your heart was bursting with joy at the beautiful moment between you all.

Shay's eyebrows furrowed in slight confusion, and you chuckled at his funny facial expression. Shay smiled suddenly, and you took a mental picture of how fragile and careful he was being as he leaned down and placed a soft kiss against your belly. "Hello in there." He whispered, his lips slightly grazing the cloth of your shirt. You felt another big kick and Shay mush have felt it too, a grin now plastered on his lips. "I think someone wants to meet their daddy." You said, and Shay chuckled as he rested the side of his head on your swollen belly, trying to get a little closer to the miracle inside of you. "Your mom and dad love you very much, kiddo. And we can't wait to meet you." Shay whispered, his face smushed against your belly as his breath tickled you slightly. You giggled, pressing a hand to your mouth as Shay turned his head to look at you. "What? What's so funny?" He asked, and you peered down at him from above your belly. "Nothing, nothing. Just, when you were talking, you kinda accidentally tickled me." You admitted, and Shay furrowed his eyebrows playfully as he removed his head from your belly, slowly making his way up to you. You tried to scoot away from his playful banter, but his hands flew to your waist and softly held you in place. You squeaked at the slight pressure he was applying, it felt ticklish and you couldn't help but giggle. Shay's body covered yours, his torso hovering high enough over your stomach so as to not hurt the baby. His forehead rested on yours, and you reached up and pulled him down to meet your awaiting lips.

"I can certainly do more than tickle you, lass."
