-Account of Hisashi Hitotomi-

Part II

Ever since that day, he kept following me.

It didn't even bother me at all.

Sometimes, I can feel myself laughing at the things he says.

There was this one time as I was about to enter the classroom that I've heard a distant conversation from inside.

"H-hey, isn't Hisashi changing nowadays?" one girl classmate said.

"He sure is. He wasn't such a delinquent we thought he is."

"Yeah, ever since Haru kept following him."

Then I realized, it was Haru that helped me change for the better.

My classmates think better of me now.

Even the teachers, they really think I'm changing.

It must be because Haru was there.

Then someone pats my back.

"Morning, Hisashi." Haru says with a big grin on his face.

"What's with the grin?"

"Oh, nothing. Well, better get into class."

Haru enters the classroom and greets everyone.

I just smiled to myself and somehow, it was the first time that I enjoyed going to school.

Lunch break.

I headed towards the rooftop.

It seems strange enough that Haru was not following me.

Though I told him to do what he pleases, I just got used to him following me.

I reached the rooftop, and lied there as I watched the sky.

A few minutes later, I see a shadow overcasting me.

It was Haru.

"I thought you'd be here."

"Where did you run off to?" I asked him.

"Run off to? I just went to buy lunch. Want one?" Haru asked as he tries giving me a bread.

"You're really giving me this for free?" I asked him again as I tried reaching out for the bread.

"Well, you just have to pay me 100 yen." Haru said as he pulled away the bread.

"I thought were friends?!" I said suprisingly.

"Ehh.. now you consider me a friend only when I give you food?!" Haru replied.

We looked at each other and started laughing.

After eating lunch, we quietly gazed at the sky above us.

"Say, Haru. Why'd you start befriending someone like me?"

"Hmm, not exactly your soup question eh?"

"Just ridicule me with a lie I guess."

"Would friends lie to each other?" Haru asked me.

"It depends. Wouldn't you want to protect your friends' feelings?"

"I guess so." Haru replied looking at the sky.

"Thanks, Haru." I said out as I looked at the sky.

"For what?"

"For being a friend."

"No worries."

The two of us quietly gazed at the clouds as they slowly danced on the sky.
