Chapter 2: Pageant

Angeline POV

It's not like I didn't expect this... with how attractive they are, it doesn't take a genius to guess how well-known and looked-up to they are in the whole campus. Dahil sa pagiging family friends at sa natural na outgoing personality nila Ryle at Xyza, sila ang palagi kong kasama dito sa campus.

Panigurado, naa-awa lang sila sa akin. Well... fine. I don't care what's the motive dahil kaysa naman wala akong kasama. Nagsimula na akong mag-aral as a 1st Year collge student sa Business Managament pero sa 3 months ko na dito sa university, wala ako natitipong kaibigan sa mga classes ko.

It's not like anyone wanted to be friends with me anyway. Ang mga gustong kinakaibigan ng mga tao ay yung mga magaganda lang, diba? Hindi naman ako maganda. Wala ni isang katangian na kapuri-puri sa akin. Hindi naman din ako naghahanap ng kaibigan kaya okay lang. Iniisip ko, 4 years lang naman ako magsta-stay dito at pagkatapos noon, hindi ko na makikita ang mga tao na 'to. It will pass. It will.

Though, I've noticed that at certain times, people would glance at me especially when I'm with the "perfect couple". Sabagay, 3rd year na sina Ryle and Xyza. Sikat din sila so people are probably raising brows why someone like me would thirdwheel sakanila.

"You sure you need to go to screening still? You were the winner last year so I'm sure you'd ace it this year as well." linya ni Ryle. Isa ito sa mga tipikal niyang mga pagswe-sweet para kay Xyza. Sa maikling panahon na kasama ko sila tuwing vacant, I've already observed a lot.

"It would be unfair to others, e. Ayoko din ng issue. Alam mo na..." Xyza raised her brow up.

Screening for what? I kept mum as I silently listened to their conversations. Ganito naman lagi although they would try adding me into their conversations.

Ryle semi-embraced Xyza as he kissed her on her shoulder, rubbing it tenderly.

"Okay, then... I'll wait for your screening to finish then we'll go out, alright?" he sweetly murmured.

"Yeah..." Xyza flustered. As in, really fluster. Her voice got even softer as her cheeks blushed scarlet red.

Nang magtama ang tingin namin, naramdaman ko ang hiya niya at mabilisan niyang inalis ang hawak ni Ryle sakanya.

"What are you doing... Angeline's here." she said softly. Sus. Pabebe pa.

Mabilis naman na-compose si Ryle agad at napatawa sa reaksyon ng girlfriend.

"Oh yeah, sorry. Sorry. May screening kasi si Xyza sa Miss University. She won last year already and the year before din." Ryle proudly announced.

Ah... well, there's no doubt about that. Sobra ngang maganda ang girlfriend niya. Bagay na bagay ang pagiging beauty queen. Kakalabas lang din ng Prelims results namin at nakita noong isang araw na nasa Dean Lister's pa siya. Titanong ko din kay Mom at sabi niya, kilalang pamilya din daw ang family niya. The old rich provincial types din.

Really, is there anything unperfect about Xyza Orianne Estevez?

Napakagat ako sa sa aking labi sa di malamang rason. May mga tao pala talagang kagaya niya. Grabe lang.

"If you're not doing anything, Angeline, gusto mo ko samahan? Nood kayo ni Ryle." she enthusiastically invited.

Hmmm.... Sabagay, wala talaga akong ganap sa buhay ko. There's nothing to lose, anyway.

"Uhm.. Sige." maliit na sabi ko.

Muling ngumiti ang mga mata niya at bahagyang nagulat. Nag-clap pa nga siya sa sobrang excited niya.
