Mufflers Under Sunny Days [ I ]

Griffin woke up from the splashes outside and from the same frustrated outbursts. He laid limp in bed with a chest weighed to the craggy ground and a consciousness stuck in a horrendous torrential cycle never to see its end. The glacial breeze of the cave frosting his limbs was surprisingly still consoling to him. He just wished for a few more minutes in this desolation. Just a few more before resuming his service in the war. A few more... to agonize over a friend... again.

Then, by the bank, he watched Wyvern fail repeatedly; failing to jump before hitting the surface, jumping out of the river and jumping much of the water with her. It made him consider simply keeping her here for a while. Safe. At least until she gets used to who she was and earn instinctual jump sites all over the world.

"RELAX!" he commanded, abruptly shooting to his feet to yell, "what's inside your head?! What are you thinking about?!" The current floated her away. "Are you afraid!?"

It pissed her off. Him with his sudden outrage fuming her own. She thought of who she was... the exact reason she ended up in this life of constantly running away. She thought of not being able to do for others like her who can easily lose their lives no matter how far they run as well.

She thought of her real family, the people she jumped away from. Is it true that she did right before they died? She doesn't remember at all! She read somewhere that people who went under trauma tend to forget everything before that. Was that what happened to her?

Why was I even living as this?

"Wyvern, wake up! This isn't a joke! From Bastien and Oliver's fight! From all our fights and your own one back at home! You should know." His growl brought her back to reality.

"Then why did you come back to involve me!" She faced him, standing now.

"I left you. Cause I know what happens once you get involved. But you're here now. They found you."

"Cause of you!"

"Are you gonna come with me to kill those Paladins or not?"

She froze.

"No answer?!"

He bit his lower lip. She glowered at him in the river. Only her head above the water. Her wet hair stuck like tentacles on her face. She knew... they were being like this cause of Bastien. But she couldn't help it. The fact that it was cause of his specialness that he died... it daunted on every one of them.
