Furor [ I ]

The explosion did nothing to the structures of the warehouse at all! Griffin observed in squinted eyes at the only building in this deserted area. Those assholes definitely did some tweaking on those walls in case things like this happened. Or, he turned to Wyvern who supported him by the arm. "You pressed the wrong button, idiot. Go back! Let's go back!"

He seemed to have recovered from the volts and blood loss. So enthusiastic to return when he just came back from the dead. "You pressed it before jumping away, right?"

"Yes, yes," She replied, exasperated and still dizzy from the countless jumps-- the time when all she saw were blurs of color and hazy outlines of everything.

"You better be sure cause I doubt the remote works on the other side of the earth. Let's go."

She protested, pulling him close to her side.

"If you're absolutely sure it was the right button then you wouldn't have to worry about those munchkins being there. You should've read the instructions first in the weapons room. The room's beautiful, Wyvern. So much better than my collection at home."

Those trash in that plastic box of yours?

They jumped. Inside, only mounds of fallen structures piled. Nothing else stood in the warehouse. Except for that wall where, cause of the cuff, she felt the ruckus on the other side of it. Griffin barely felt anything at all, though he wore one too. They walked closer.

She felt them. "I think..." They peeked into this room with several rows of computers. Kana stood at the main one that had the largest screen at the front. Endless number of people of different races evident with their contrasting facial features popped and jumped away after Kana gave commands and folders; with the help of several people beside her on their own desktops. Eyes all glued on the screens.

Paladins, who must've been working in this room a few minutes ago, lied in heaps at the corner, all with a hole through their heads.

"Wear the cuffs and get a list!" Kana shouted when the room started crowding with jumpers. "Be careful! Paladins are used to being caught off guard! Make it quick! Don't hesitate cause they will never!" then in a smaller voice, "ah, I'm scared for these rookie killers. I don't wanna get them into this but they're all so stubborn."

"Aren't we all jumpers?" replied one of the assistants. The rest snickered.

Griffin limped to her. "You knew others."

"Ethan and I met lots while he was still around." Kana gave no hint of shock nor sympathy at Griffin's gory condition.

"Why didn't you tell me?!"

"You were gonna make them into soldiers," She met Wyvern's eyes.

He was about to reason some more when he coughed blood.

Wyvern immediately sat him on a chair. "We should go to a hospital."

"No," he breathed hard while pressing on his wounded shoulder, "I wanna see. I wanna see the end of these murderers... maybe until they somehow rebuild again. Bastar—"

"Fuck, Griff, go to a hospital!" Kana kicked his chair.

He shook his head, ignorant to the blood dripping at the side of his mouth. Kana was on the phone, "oh, you're in Jordan. Yes, I asked them, they left scars, pick any. They all lead here." A small man in blue scrubs appeared at the doorway. "Doctor, please, he's there." She pointed at Griffin.

"A brave jumper you are," he scanned him once then resurfaced with his surgical tools and packets of blood. He tore Griffin's shirt off and began cleaning his wounds. Griffin bit down his shrieks.

"We should go to the falls." Wyvern suggested as he hobbled to the front with his blood bank and swinging shoulders to relish the many jumpers appearing in groups and jumping to countries around the world; dropping and tossing grenades at the Paladins as Wyvern had done. On the large screen, they saw the green icons of the hidden headquarters blinked to red then black.

Is this the end? Or a mere pause of the cat and mouse game? This was more than I ever imagined, Griffin told himself. More than what he alone could succeed in his lifetime. It was so beautiful to see. This many jumpers? When all those times when I was younger I felt so alone with what I could do lost after my parents

I wasn't so special after all, right, Schulz?

Yet you all know me.
