Mufflers Under Sunny Days [ IV ]
On the island, Griffin stared at Wyvern sitting on her usual spot by the big rock.
After some more thoughts, he dragged her to the edge, tugging her to kneel down beside him and wiped blood off her face with the salty water. He scanned her indifference. So distant to the spry woman he got to know the past few weeks.
"What?" She asked.
He shook his head at her vacant eyes, resumed clearing her face, and dipped her hands in the ocean to wash them. So much for saying not to be involved anymore...
"Ow."
He pulled her injured arm down too hard. Wyvern felt their sting again.
Kana eventually came with Ethan's body. She sobbed and had blood smeared over her face and clothes, quite close to how Wyvern initially appeared.
She dropped on the ground before Griffin and Wyvern treaded towards her.
A battle fought well to retrieve our friend's body, Griffin thought. Ethan's leg hung by the skin, neck bent in an angle.

"She's fine, no wounds. Passed out from exhaustion and electricity." Griffin said on his way out of the cave to dig Ethan's grave. Wyvern seeing him do this, it felt so final. Fast and final as this life had been showing her. And required such high forbearance while she ached, watching him shovel with glistening eyes, wasting no second to sprawl around and grieve like last time.
After casting a final look at the mound, they returned in the lair. Griffin chortled, "our group's getting wiped out one by one."
"It's Oliver." Kana coughed out, waking up.
He nodded, "yeah, that's why Ethan--"
"It's Oliver." She repeated more firmly. "We were together the day before he told Bastien it was time to go for their errand. Wherever that was, Bastien never came back. Then Oliver texted Ethan only, not you, and look what happened. When they attacked us he just stood there with that face. When the explosions began," Griffin's eyes flicked to Wyvern, Kana doesn't seem to have any knowledge that it was her, "he was gone."
They were silent.
