Tris's POV
A/N: I'm sorry this is so short I wrote it in like 10 minutes I wanted to set up for the next chapter.
After dinner I volunteer to go check the mail at the post office. Unlike the other factions, Abnegation houses don't have individual mail boxes in front of the house. I wish we did.
I put on my gray robes and since it's Caleb's turn to do the dishes tonight, he doesn't follow me. I'm thankful for my little five minute walk of privacy.
The roads to the Post Office are stone cobble, and the houses next to them are identical to every other in this faction, square, with an equal amount of windows as it's neighbor. I find the similarity comforting as I kick a small pebble all the way there.
When I finally open the oak double doors, a small smile reaches my lips. The inside of the post is wood, unlike most Abnegation buildings, and the strong cedar scent always reminds me of home. Which is strange, because our house smells nothing like this.
There is only one window, and a man in gray robes stands In front it, asking the woman for building 38's mail.
I wait in line a few steps behind the man, and chew on my fingernails and look around. My mother was always telling me to stop, but it's a habit.
I snap out of my daze and step forward, knocking into the man and his mail. I gasp and look up. Tobias.
"It seems we keep running into each other." He laughs and we both bend down to grab the scattered mail.
"I guess so. I'm sorry, by the way." I smile and he returns it. I only met this happy, older boy this morning but I feel comfortable with him, as strange as that sounds.
He stands up and I give him the letters I picked up.
"Well I'd really love to stay and chat, Beatrice, but my dad is waiting on these letters." He says apologetically.
He opens the double doors and looks over his shoulders. "I'll see you tomorrow at school!" And with that he leaves. I shake my head and walk up to the woman, who is actually quite young and is staring at the door with a glazed look in her eyes.
"Uhm, mail for building 21 p-"
"Is he single?" She suddenly asks. My eyebrows raise momentarily and I take a better look at her.
She is blonde and pretty, with a small nose and bright blue eyes. She couldn't be more than 17. I feel anger in the pit of my stomach for some reason.
"I actually do not know." I answer hastily. She seems unsatisfied and frowns before finding the key for our house's box. She digs around and hands me two letters. I thank her but I don't think she is paying attention. I sigh and leave, the double doors making a slight squeak on their hinges as they close.

"Goodnight." I call down the stairs to my parents. Caleb follows after me and we hug in the hallway, before going to our own rooms.
I close the door and lean against it, sighing. I'm strangely tired, and I did hardly anything today.
I strip out of my itchy day clothes and robes and put on a loose button up shirt and sweat pants, gray of course, and open up the one window.
Across from us lives an elderly couple, and next to us are Susan and Robert. Something In my head clicks and I wonder if the girl talking to Caleb was Susan. It probably was since Susan was always side-glancing him when we all walked to school together.
I sigh and close the window and crawl into bed. The comforter is way too heavy and hot for this time of the year but I ignore that and turn on my side, facing the wall, and drift off to sleep.
A/N: hi this was more of a filler chapter than anything, but the next chapter is Caleb's POV and is VERY essential to the plot (there's also a lot of FourTris!) but there's only a few more chapters till Tobias goes to Dauntless and then Tris so stay tuned!

FanficWhat if Tobias and Tris met before in Abnegation? Before Tobias transferred? How could they forget? Maybe that was the reason her instructor "Four" seemed so familiar in the Dauntless compound...
