"We aren't partners and we aren't in the same bus, I don't like this at all." You smiled, seeing Wonwoo pout as Mingyu, the boy beside him is occupied with his phone. "I'm sure Mingyu will keep you happy during the whole trip." You encouraged as you got on your tip toes just to ruffle his hair.
"If you didn't know, this boy isn't whiny, he's just so clingy whenever you're around," Mingyu said and Wonwoo nudged him, you chuckled, you knew that emo side, you loved both sides of his.
"Anyway, I think we should go now y/n, we need to buy some food first because Wonwoo here was too hella forgetful that he didn't bring food, we have to buy, see you later y/n-ah." Mingyu explained as the two waved at you, Wonwoo frowned as he was dragged away by his friend. You just laughed.
"Hey y/n~" Your head whipped to the side to see a smiling Jinyoung with a phone in his hand, you smiled back. "I bought the both of us milk tea, happy birthday!" You cheered as you showed him the chilled cups in your hand. He grinned, "I wanna eat the snacks I brought but I need food in the bus." You stated your complain.
"Just wait until we board the bus, I'm sure you'll eat soon." He said, trying to lighten your mood. "Come on, let's go head to the bus?" Jinyoung asked as he turned around but immediately turned back to you as his eyes were widened. "Hm? What is it?" You asked as you were oblivious to the fact that he used his body to shield your vision from anything up front.
"Oh nothing, I just think we need to go back over there, since I forgot to buy..tissues?" He said, more of a question. "Don't worry! I've got them in my bag." You said happily as you continued going forward, he immediately held your hand to stop you but was too late.
His eyes were filled with sadness as your hand remained in his, he was beside you as he looked at the scene that he was afraid you'll see.
He looked at you as he could feel you grip his hand tighter, he looked back at the scene, it was Jungkook with a girl, probably his partner, it looked like Jungkook was wiping the girl's mouth with a tissue, their faces were so close.
Your heart ached looking at them but Jinyoung's heart shattered as he looked at you, he hated how your eyes were filled with nothing but sadness.
"L-let's buy those tissues Jinyoung-ah." You gulped as Jinyoung looked at you. Jinyoung hated how your smile was forced, not the beautiful one he came to adore.
He held your hand tighter when he felt your grip loosen. He said he was gonna be the one who'll gain back your happiness when you're sad and he was currently there for you.
He stopped walking and that stopped you, your eyes only focused on the ground. "Hey, cheer up, alright? For me please?" His hands landed on his sides.
He received silence but you only gave thoughts in your mind, you felt so selfish, you felt like you wanted to be Jungkook's partner but here was Jinyoung in front of you. He was always there for you but you never saw that.
You slowly grabbed his hand as you looked up at him slowly, "Don't frown, you cheer up, alright? It's your birthday, don't be driven by what I feel." You mumbled but loud enough for him to hear.
His heart started beating as he gulped, he felt like he could melt any second. "It's your birthday," you breathed in.
"And I don't want you to be sad like me. I bought you milk tea remember? Now come on, let's go get the great seats!" You beamed as you dragged him to the bus, making him smile as he enjoyed your enthusiasm.
You grinned at him as the both of you sat, you fished your phone out and already picked a playlist. You grabbed the other ear bud and handed it to him.
Your eyes caught Jungkook sitting with his girl partner, you sighed but immediately erased it with a smile, you started to shout the words in the song with Jinyoung.
He loved how he got to spend time with you on his birthday, he loved how you did nothing but make him happy, you made his heart race so much more.
He loved how easily you'd recover from such sadness, he loved how you were so optimistic, he loved how you wanted his smile than your own.
He loved those simple details that made him fall for you. As he looked at you forcing the raspy lyrics out from your throat, he sadly smiled.
He really wished that was the case, he wished that everything was at it's past but he realized how it wasn't easy to get the feeling away.
He smiled as he looked at your eyes forcedly shut, belting out the lyrics of the song. He chuckled to himself, he didn't know when he started falling for you but he just knew he did, he knew getting rid of the feeling was hard.
It was harder when you were making him fall for you more.
