6. Secrets Unveiled
After a week, the police allowed us to finally continue shooting even though the case was still open. And the cast and crew tried to hide their feelings when we got back to work.
Pierce hired a new hair and makeup woman, Luann. She seemed nice enough, but when I walked in, not seeing Cassandra just reminded me of everything that had happened.
I sat down in my chair, and Luann got started.
"So," she said. "I believe you are our lead, right?"
I nodded. "That's me." I tried to smile.
She smiled back. "It's nice to meet you...Melody, right?"
I nodded again. "Uh huh." I closed my eyes as she began to apply eye shadow.
When I went to wardrobe, Hattie was already there as usual.
"Good morning, Melody," she greeted.
"Hey, Hattie," I replied.
"How has your little break been?" she asked as she searched through the hangers to find what I would wear.
"Quiet," I said.
"I would assume." She took a few hangers down and handed them to me. "There you go."
"Thanks." I went and got changed in the dressing rooms. Hattie had no objections when I came out, so I left to go to the set.
Almost everyone was there to my surprise. We were soon under way and back to shooting. We ran through the house scenes again. The ones we already did. I'm not quite sure why we came back to them, but Pierce seemed a little different-more dazed. Maybe he just wanted extra shots just in case because we were going to go to Washington soon.
Were we still going to go at all now?
"Hey, Melody," Tyson said from behind me, surprising me and causing me to jump.
I turned to him, breathless. "Hey."
He looked me over. "Sorry. Did I scare you?"
"Just a little," I admitted.
He smiled a heartbreaking smile. "I'll warn you the next time I'm behind you."
"But wouldn't the warning scare me?"
He thought about that. "Okay. I'll walk around you so you see me."
I nodded. "That sounds less frightening."
"It's settled then."
"Places!" Pierce shouted.
"Let's go," Tyson said, nodding his head towards the set.
"Yeah."
He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and we walked over the house set.
"Good morning, you two," Pierce said as we walked up. "Are you ready to get started?"
"Totally," I replied.
"Then let's get to it." He clapped his hands together and we walked in front of the cameras. I saw Keely staring me down when she noticed Tyson's arm around my shoulders.
We did our hour of shooting, then went to the classroom to learn. We started with History. Fun stuff. But I made it through until the next round of shooting, which was another scene we had already done, when we see Sienna's dead body. We got through it fine, and Pierce made a few changes that seemed for the better.
