5. The First Victim
When I finally got out of my trailer the next morning, there was a crowd around the entrance to the makeup trailer.
"What's going on?" I asked as I walked up.
Everyone turned to look at me at the same time.
"What? What happened?"
No one answered me. They all just turned back to what they were looking at. I manage to push my way through to see.
And I regret doing it. Because lying right there, on the pavement, was Cassandra's cold, dead body.
I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand. "Oh my god," I breathed.
"What's happening?" I heard Pierce shout from the back of the crowd. "Move, let me through!" He was soon standing beside me. "Jesus, Mary and Joseph." He kneeled beside Cassandra and closed her eyes. He turned to the crowd. "Well, what are you waiting for? Get to your trailers and someone call the police."
The group dispersed, and a few people gave me rude glares, which I didn't understand at all.
And of course Tyson walked up then. "Pierce, we need to talk."
"Get to your trailer," Pierce ordered, ignoring him.
Tyson waited a moment longer, but seeing Pierce wasn't about to speak, he gave me a slight nod and walked away.
"Mr. Pierce," I said. He looked up at me. "She didn't die on her own, did she?"
Pierce sighed. "No, I'm afraid not. Please go to your trailer."
I nodded, and did as I was told. When I reached my trailer, I noticed Tyson was there, leaning on my door.
"Hey," I said, confused as to why he was here.
"Hey," he replied. "Do you mind if I stay here with you? You shouldn't be alone."
"Why not?" I asked.
"You don't want to know." He moved and allowed me to unlock my door.
When we were both inside, he said, "Lock it behind you."
I was still confused, but I did as he said. "Do you think there will be any filming today?"
"Doubt it. The police will be here soon."
I sat on the couch. "Hey, do you have any idea why those people glared at me?"
He looked me directly in the eyes. "They glared at you?" He crossed his arms and leaned on the door.
"Yeah. As everyone was leaving to head for their trailers, they all glared at me. Each and every one of them."
Tyson sighed. "They think you did it."
"Did what?"
"Killed Cassandra."
I shivered at the word. "Why would they think I did that?"
"Because you stay here instead of going to a hotel. But it's okay." He sat beside me on the couch. "They won't think that for long."
"How do you know that? I don't have an alibi."
"You also have no reason to do such a thing."
I nodded. "You're right."
"If they don't believe you, I'll make something up."
