The trio turned around to face Professor McGonagall. Her face had the expression of shock, betrayal, anger and sadness all together. She looked around the room and stared at the horcruxes on the table. Everyone in the room was silent except for the Sorting hat which began to speak of how it should be protected in the future.
"Professor." Harry began.
"ENOUGH!" bellowed McGonagall.
"I did not expect this from you three. The chosen one is unable to protect the wizarding world and is leading us to doom instead!" McGonagall said, keeping herself together.
"That day I heard you when you were coming into my lesson yet I refused to believe that you three would have such scandalous intentions. I decided to keep an eye on you so I transfigured myself into that owl and my suspicions were true. How could you do this?"
"We were going to destroy the horcruxes." Ron began.
"You were about to defile the Sorting hat, an important artifact of the wizarding world, with dark magic!" Cried Professor McGonagall.
"You don't need control. What good is this going to do and how will this stop Voldemort?" She continued.
"Were sorry Professo-" Hermione began.
"Never mind." Said McGonagall, cutting Hermione off.
"While we are here bickering, Voldemort and the death eaters will be here by tomorrow night." McGonagall explained.
The trio gasped.
"Now have you lot actually got a plan or were you too busy trying to seize control?" McGonagall asked, a defeated expression on her face.
"Actually we did have a plan." Ron said cheerfully.
Hermione briefly explained about the horcruxes and what they were and what else they needed to do.
"Well you get on with that. Meanwhile, the ex members of the Order of the phoenix and the professors will man the boundaries." McGonagall said, striding out of the room.
"And get these lot out of here." She said indicating the unconscious Neville, Luna and Hannah on the floor, shaking her head.
"Sorry Professor." The trio muttered.
McGonagall walked out of the room, grabbing the ingredients of the Allegience curse from Hermione's hands.
The trio stood in silence for a moment and then set to work.
Harry placed the Diadem in front of him. He raised the sword of Gryffindor and brought it down.
The Diadem exploded, dark plumes  of black smoke rose from it. Whispers from Voldemort could be heard and then the smoke dissipated.
"Bloody hell." Ron exclaimed.
Next, Hermione placed the Cup on the table.
Harry handed the sword to Hermione.
"I can't. " She said.
"You must." Harry put the sword in her hand.
Hermione held the sword up and then bought it down on the cup. The cup shook non stop and then the sound of Voldemort screaming filled the room. Pictures on the wall fell onto the floor and the whole room, if not all of Hogwarts, shook.
The trio shuddered.
"He must feel something. You know who must have realised by now that we are destroying the horcruxes. He will probably reach here earlier than tomorrow night to kill us." Ron explained.
The trio nodded in agreement.
"Where's the locket?" Hermione asked.
Harry was wearing the locket around his neck. He took it off.
"I told you not to wear that locket. It has a negative effect on your mind and the people around you." Hermione scolded.
"Maybe that's why we were about to curse the Sorting hat and take over Hogwarts." Ron sighed.
"We can't blame our choices all on this damn locket. Now let's destroy it already." Hermione said eagerly.
Harry handed Ron the sword. But first, he needed to ask the locket to open in parseltongue.
Harry began to hiss something in parseltongue. The locket suddenly opened, blowing the trio back across the room. Smoke rose from it and from the smoke, spiders from Ron's nightmares crawled towards him. Ron backed away in fear.
Before anything else could happen, Ron roared, ran upto the locket and smashed it with the sword. There was a ringing in the room for a moment, and then it stopped.
Harry suddenly collapsed into the floor as Voldemort came into his mind.
In the vision, Harry could see that Voldemort was coming to Hogwarts and he looked enraged. He whispered something in parseltongue to his snake, Nagini, that he kept close beside him.
"The snakes the last one." Harry said.
"She's the last horcrux." Harry sighed.
"The snake is always next to him." Ron muttered.
The trio looked outside the window and could see the protective charms being put around Hogwarts.
At that moment, McGonagall walked in.
"Potter." She began.
"There's something you need to know."
