I looked up from my hands, seeing the blonde walk out of school.

His hands were linked with the small girls, my smile faltering.

She giggled as he kissed her cheek, her walking away after words.

He pulled out his own phone, scrolling before bringing it to his ear.

His soft voice ringed out, followed by a laugh.

"Alright, bye."

He hung up his phone before looking at me, he blushed with a smile.

I forced one back, looking down at my hands once again, sitting on the bench behind me.

After a few moments I felt a tap on my shoulder and I look up.

My eyes meet his blue ones, a gentle smile spreading across his face.

"Hi." He blushed.

"Hi." I smiled.

He looked as if he was thinking for a second before smiling wider.

"I'm Sam." He held out his hand.

"Colby." He smiled as I took it.

His hands were so soft and delicate, small compared to mine, but completely holdable.

We seemed to stare for awhile, both lost in our unwelcome thoughts.

"Sam!"

Sam turned to the woman calling his name.

He smiled at me and stood up.

"Bye, Colby." He let go of my hand.

"Bye." And he left.

The smell of roses more vibrant than ever.
