"of course, I felt the same, Colby."

I let my hands fall from his face, tears rolling down my cheeks.

I shook my head, my heart filled with hurt.

"You can't do that, Sam.."

He looked confused, hurt, sad.

I hated it.

"You can't feel the same.."

He grabbed my hand, his soft fingers lacing with mine again.

"Colby.. I know it isn't right.. but I want to try.."

I sniffled as his hand squeezed mine.

"Jess.. and Jake.."

He looked down, regret clearly on his face.

"I.. I love her.. I really do, but.."

I winced slightly, squeezing my eyes shut.

He stepped closer and put his soft hand on my face, wiping a tear away.

"But I love you more."

I opened my eyes, the rosy color returning to his pale cheeks.

I smiled softly, grabbing his shoulder and pulling him in.

Our lips connected again, my heart feeling as if it was healed.

But it broke all over again as I remembered he isn't mine.

He'll never be mine and I have to accept that.

With that thought, I pulled away.

"You'll never be mine, Sammy.."

A tear went down his face.

I wiped it away gently, pecking his lips again.

"And I'm gonna have to learn to live with that."

Then I did something I knew I'd regret.

I walked away.
