"I can't"
I only stared, trying to process.
"Y-you can't?"
He shook his head, gaze falling to the floor.
I felt my heart shatter, breathing deeply as to not cry.
"I- I hurt Jake.. to be with you and- and- you can't!?"
We both winced at my raise of voice, backing up from each other.
I didn't mean to yell, but I don't exactly take it back either.
"She was so happy to see me.. I couldn't break her heart like that.."
I shook my head, tears surfacing at my eyes.
"Y'know.. Jake was excited to see me as well. He gave me the biggest hug.. kept asking if I was okay.. And then I broke him. For you."
I don't why I was suddenly angry, my chest and eyes flaming with hatred and pain.
I didn't bother hearing his response, turning and doing the same thing I always do.
Walk away.
