The Mummy Returns (A Rick O'Connell Fanfic) {2}

Chapter 5

Rick reloaded his gun as he got on the bus while a wall of the museum was partially destroyed by the mummies. Rick stopped to see the mummies turn the corner and running towards the bus, destroying his car oil the process.

"No! No! Not my car!" Rick exclaimed when he saw his car being squashed.

"Oh, I hate mummies!" He groaned.

"Glad to see me now?" Ardeth asked.

"Just like old times, huh?" Rick said back before he went up the stairs to the 2nd level of the bus. He sat at the back while shooting two of the mummies which slowed them down a bit. The four mummies separated into pairs. One pair climbed onto a wall on one side, while the other pair did the same but in the opposite wall.

"Right," Rick said while he looked back and forth, not knowing what to do. Suddenly, one mummy jumped towards him, but Rick shot at his head making the mummy turn into ash. He continued to shoot at the other mummy but it jumped to the bottom level of the bus where everyone but Rick was.

As it reached the door of the bus, Ardeth shot the mummy, making it screech which turned the attention of Evy, Lucy and Alex. Ardeth continuously shot at it, until the whole lower body was gone onto the road.

Rick was reloading his shotgun, while the two mummies that remained continued to crawl on the walls beside the bus. Suddenly, when Rick finished loading his gun, one of the mummies jumped on the top of the bus, making a dint. Rick immediately shot at the dint before it made another and another dint, making Rick shoot and shoot again.

Ardeth was reloading his Thompson when he stopped to see an upper half of a mummy entering the bus. The mummy knocked the gun out of his hands before hitting him against the bus window. This made the girls and Alex turn their attention to him again.

"Ahh!" Evy and Lucy yelled in fear as they watch the mummy hang onto a handle while throwing Ardeth across the bus. Lucy held her hand in front of Alex, making sure he wasn't getting hurt. Ardeth got to his feet, dodging the mummy with every move it throws. Ardeth dodged the mummy when it jumped towards him, making the mummy land on a bus seat.

Rick was again reloading his gun when he saw that a mummy was making a hole in the roof of the bus. Rick was going as fast as he could but when he finished the mummy jumped through the hole and pushed Rick to the ground as his gun slid across the floor. He crawled as fast as he could and jumped towards his gun but couldn't grab it in time before the mummy pulled him backward. The mummy grabbed Rick and threw him against the roof before putting him down on the floor, before doing it again.

The half of a mummy grabbed ahold of a metal holder on a chair before it opened up its claws, making Ardeth widen his eyes before it scratched him on the arm.

"Turn! Turn! Turn! Turn!" Evy yelled at her brother. This made Ardeth and the half mummy being thrown against the window and made Jonathan hit a lamp post.

The mummy had Rick in a choke hold as Rick punched it in the face but it didn't do much. Suddenly, Rick was thrown against a window by the bus. The mummy released Rick as he crawled towards his gun again but this time he grabbed ahold of it. But not for long... As Jonathan turned the bus, Rick rolled over and accidentally let go of the gun, making the gun go down a hole and outside the bus next to Jonathan.

Evy turned to see the gun which had landed outside and grabbed it quickly. Lucy turned to see that her sister was about to shoot, and grabbed her gun. As the sisters turned the saw the mummy was about to finish Ardeth off. The quickly shot at the mummy, making it go backward and out the window.

The mummy had Rick in a choke hold again and Rick continued to punch it in the face. He then stopped and put his two fingers in his eyes before shaking it off. Rick looked behind the mummy and widened his eyes. He quickly punched the mummy before diving to the floor. The mummy was still standing but screeched when he saw the bridge coming towards it. Most of the top level of the bus was destroyed, leaving the mummy behind at the start of the collision.

Jonathan crossed the bridge and parked the bus at the side of the road while Rick came down to the stairs to join everyone.

"Great driving Uncle Jon!" Alex said while Jonathan was sitting there in shock with wide eyes.

"You alright?" Rick asked Ardeth while panting.

"This was... my first bus ride," Ardeth said while panting before Evy sat next to him and put her head on his shoulder.

Rick threw his head back softly against the wall of the bus before turning to Lucy. Lucy smiled at him and used her finger to tell him to come over to her and walked to her with a smile.

"What would I do without you?" Lucy said as she put her hands behind his neck.

"Are all librarians this much trouble?" Rick asked in amusement before they leaned in for a kiss.

"Oh, geez. Get a room," Alex mumbled to himself as he walked to the back of the bus, shaking his head. He stopped at the entrance of the bus and looked up the stairs to see how much damage was done. He turned to his mom and dad to see them, safe, in each other's arms, and Evy, safe with Ardeth as they sat together. Suddenly, a hand covered his mouth from behind and yelled as loud as he could.

Everyone turned to see Alex being taken away by Lock-Nah, the man who fought Ardeth in the house.

"Alex!" Rick yelled as he ran to the back of the bus.

"Stop!" Rick yelled as he got out of the bus as they started to drive away. Rick ran as fast as he could. The car stopped to get someone before driving again. As the car crossed halfway across the bridge, the bridge started to rise up, which only made Rick run faster. Rick was nearly at the edge before he jumped only to grab ahold of the front edge of the bridge.

"Alex..." Rick said while panting as he watched the car drive off.

Chapter 5 is up! Sorry for the late update I have had a lot of studying to do this past week and I didn't have much time to update. Thank you all for waiting for the updates!
