A/N: Sorry about the lack of updates, with school starting up I've been fairly busy with homework, tuition and music practise. This oneshot's fairly short but it's just a little vent I needed to let out because of some stuff happening at home. The song is 'Without Words' by Olivia Ruby. PLEASE listen with the song, it makes the fanfic much fluffier and enjoyable <3.

I'm Listening
The (h/c)-haired young woman had a death grip on the handle of her teacup. Usually, the steady rocking of the train would be lulling for the young woman but not today. Ever since she entered the train, wanting to spend time with her lover, Jacob could tell that something was bothering her. All the emotions she used while conversing did not seem genuine and when the attention was finally off her, she would either look angry or upset.
Currently, she looked mad.
"(Y/n). . ." Jacob approached cautiously as he gazed down at her smaller figure, she looked up with curiosity in her eyes. Fake curiosity.
"Yes?" She spoke, putting her tea down with a little too much force - something only someone with heightened senses like Jacob's would pick up on.
"Is something bothering you?" He gently picked up her dainty (s/t) hand in his larger one. The (e/c)-eyed female looked down at her drink.
"I don't want to burden you with my troubles, Jacob." She dismissed, yet her body language screamed that she longed to share the weight of her emotions.
"I'll be burdened by knowing there's something I'm not helping you with, (Y/n). . . I'm here for you, I'm listening." With those words leaving his lips, the (h/c)-haired female puffed out a sigh.
"She's never home!" She exclaimed in frustration.
"Who?" Jacob quizzed delicately as he shuffled closer.
"My mother!" (Y/n) burst out, taking her hand from Jacob's grasp and laying it on the table, propping her left elbow up to lean her head into her hand. "I understand that work as a police officer can be demanding for time but even when she is not at work, she's never home. She's always out one place or another and yet she gives it the whole 'I'm sorry I hardly see you, I love you so much, blah, blah, blah, I'm so happy you're understanding of why I'm not around and what not' I felt like my patience with her absences was being taken for granted before but even after I told her how I feel, she says she'll be around and she never is! She leaves for days at a time - if not a week or two - with the shortest of notice and I've grown fed up with it!" The upset young woman looked down at her lap, her (h/l) (h/c) tresses blocking Jacob's view of her face. "I just can't help but feel it's my fault. . ." Her tone became quieter and she sniffled.
Jacob panicked a little. He was never all that great at comforting people and the last thing he wanted was to upset the woman he was courting even further.
"I feel like I've let her down or I've disappointed her somehow. . . But I don't know how to make it right because I don't know what I've done. . ." Jacob could see shimmery tears fall onto her lap as the (s/t) female began to curl in on herself, her body beginning to shake with sobs.
Cautiously, Jacob wrapped his strong arms around her smaller frame, enveloping her in a comforting embrace.
"Hey, love, don't blame yourself - I'm sure it's nothing to do with you. I've heard lots about your mother over the past year and I'm sure the last thing she'd want is you blaming yourself." He gently swayed the sobbing woman in his hold as he smoothed his hands down her back and through her (h/l)-length tresses as she gradually calmed down. (Y/n) sniffled once more before looking up at her lover with bloodshot eyes.
"Even if it's not my fault, I feel so ignored and taken for granted - it's so frustrating!" A sigh tore from her lips, "She was supposed to be back two days ago but here we are without as much as a word as to why she hasn't returned yet. She knows how much of a worrier I am as well - for all I know, she could be dead somewhere."
"Come on, let's not assume the worst. I'm sure she'll be back within the week - then you can tell her all this." Jacob gently wiped the tears away from her cheeks and chin before pressing a kiss to her forehead, "In the meantime, I'm here for you and you can stay as long as you like, do whatever you like. I'm not busy at all today so I have plenty of time for you." He smiled gently as he tucked a lock of (h/c) hair behind her ear to see more of her (s/t) face.
"Thank you, Jacob." (Y/n) smiled as a warmth filled her insides at the feeling of his arms around her and the prospect of having him all to herself for the day. She leant in for a kiss, pressing their lips together sweetly before pulling back. "I love you."
