Attention

She was sitting in the library, a book laying purposelessly on her lap, her eyes skimming over the lines while her mind wandered elsewhere.

Her husband, Haytham Kenway, had been awfully busy with work lately and she found herself craving his attention more and more.

She puffed out a sigh as she tucked her bookmark back between the pages and closed it daintily in her hands, placing it on the table beside the armchair in which she was sitting.

The (h/c)-haired female stood up, smoothing down her creme coloured silk dress and tugging the white lace-cuffed sleeves down her arms a little. The library was dimly lit by the burnt orange light of the setting sun that slipped in through the windows. She stood by the glass, fingertips gliding over the curtains as she sadly watched the fiery colours paint the horizon that the sun was sinking behind. Another day that could have been spent with her husband.

She looked down at the floor by her feet before gazing back out of the window at the patrolling guards and their tents that were all protected by the tall stone walls of the fort.

She smoothed down her dress yet again before exiting the library to make her way to Haytham's office. She knew that she wasn't being childish; she understood the importance of his job as Grandmaster of the Templar order, even if she was forbidden to know the details of his work to keep her safe. And yet. . . He had been away for so long on a mission but he was straight back to work as soon as he returned. She hadn't received any affection from him in months, surely us was understandable that a woman would get lonely?

She often had to chase away her insecurities about his feelings towards her. She knew that he loved her unconditionally and that the demands of his work were the only reasons why he hadn't spent time with her in so long. But that didn't change her need for attention and affection from him.

(Y/n) stood outside his office door, (e/c) orbs flickering down to where her hands nervously spun her wedding and engagement rings on her left ring finger.

Taking down a breath, she knocked on the door of his office, patiently awaiting an answer.

"Come in." The voice of her husband called. She loved that voice — his accent and pronunciation mingling into such a posh tone. The (s/t)-skinned female curled her hand down on the handle to push the door open.

Haytham's steel blue eyes flickered up to her then back down to his work before he truly registered who had entered his office. His whole head snapped up and he quickly rose from his chair, making his way towards his wife to bring her against his chest in a crushing embrace.

Haytham was undeniably a handsome man. His hair dark, facial features strong and sharp, his eyes captivating. Though, (Y/n) noticed the few silver hairs that were sneaking their way into his tied back locks.

She wrapped her arms around his back and held him close, her body arching into him as one hand pressed her lower back against him while the other trailed slowly up her spine.

"How have you been?" He asked as he pulled back a little to look into her (e/c) eyes, hand trailing up to brush her jaw. Her head leaned into his touch as he cupped her cheek.

"I've been alright. . ." She spoke quietly, "Though, I've been lonely." She paused to look up at his face, taking in all the familiar details, "I miss you."

He stooped down to capture her lips in a sweet and tender kiss, one hand staying in her cheek while the other rested at her waist.

"I know." He mumbled against her lips as his thumb caressed his skin, his eyes half-lidded to take in the sadness in her eyes, "And I'm sorry. I've been so busy lately that I haven't been spending any of my time with you." Another gentle kiss was pressed to her lips. "How about we start making up for that as soon as I'm done with this task? It shouldn't take me much longer — in fact, I'm almost done." He spoke soothingly. "Would you like that?"

"If I'm speaking honestly, I'd prefer your undivided attention this very moment." She smiled gently as she ran her hands up his chest. "But I understand if you need to get this done. How soon can you finish it?"

"Another three hours or so, love." He spoke as he pulled her close again, their talking having put a little subconscious distance between them.

"Very well." She hummed, "You finish up doing whatever it is that Templars do and I'll be waiting in the bedroom." She smiled while a look of excitement sparked in Haytham's eyes.

"Oh?" He smiled somewhat suggestively, maintaining his gentlemanly nature.

"It's been too long, has it not?" She smiled as she waltzed out of the office, hips swaying as she swung herself around the doorway, leaving Haytham with a new motivation to finish his work.
