CHAPTER 07

AWKWARD SILENCE fell around them, everything around them started to slow down the longer they stare at each other. they stood there, looking at each other with a confused and shock expression.

"I can't believe this." hawon mumbled to herself. she shook her head, hoping that she might be hallucinating or dreaming.

hyunjin took a step back. he wanted to run  but his legs felt heavy as if they were glued to the ground. so he just stood there and stared at the girl in front of him.

"this can't be happening." he couldn't believe someone from his school, who isn't ms.park knows about her death.

"hyunjin i-" the girl tried reaching out for him, but she stopped once she notice how the boy flinched away from her hand.

hyunjin looked up to meet her eyes once again before his expression changed, "don't tell anyone, about this or her death." he mumbled.

"please." hawon felt herself froze before she nodded at his request, she wasn't planning on telling anyone in the first place.

she has no intention of sharing someone else's mental illness or secrets to anyone, not even to her stuffed koala at home.

"fuck." he knows about her ex lover, just as much as she knows about his ex lover. they both shared stories about their past lovers through the phone.

this was bad for hawon, it wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't best buddies with hwang hyunjin but he was.

"wait, so that's mean the guy is-" hawon immediately stood up and shushed hyunjin.

"shut up don't say his name in front of my face, please." the girl groaned before rubbing her face.

"I need to get home, you can leave." she turned around, getting ready to leave but hyunjin stopped her by grabbing her arm.

"I told you I'm walking you home and I don't take no as an answer." hyunjin started walking, while pulling her along with him.

hawon shook his hands off her wrist and silently walked behind him, dragging her bike with her while keeping her head down like a child who just got scolded by her mother.

"where do you live?" she bumped into hyunjin when he stopped in front of her, she stumbled backwards but quickly regained her balance.

"um, just around the corner." hawon didn't want him to see where she actually live so she lied to him so they could stop somewhere near her neighbourhood.

"thanks for walking me home." hawon thanked him with a small smile before pulling her bike with her through the small alley.

hyunjin raised an eyebrow in confusion, he knew she was lying. he would had left if it wasn't because she was walking along the dark alley by herself.

he secretly followed the girl into the dark alley and observes her as she got on her bike before paddling away farther away from him.

she lied about her address, did she not trust him? maybe. he sighed, he still can't believe he had been talking to someone from school all along.

hyunjin cursed to himself and slapped himself on the head, this is what he get for talking to strangers about his personal stuff.

"why are you following me!" he got startled and tripped on his own feet. a snort came from the girl who looked back at him.

"making sure you get home safely." hyunjin shrugged, hawon rolled her eyes before she started paddling away again.

they soon got to a small neighbourhood, the streetlights wasn't really bright enough to light the streets, causing the streets to be dark.

the wind was blowing softly causing hyunjin to shiver under his coat, the girl stopped and got off her bike.

"I'm home, you can go now." he observes as the girl started walking while dragging her bike towards the building in front of them.

the appearance of the building itself made the boy shiver, it looked really old and unsafe. "are you sure?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"yes, now go!" hawon walked back to him and pushing him to walk. she knew how bad her neighbourhood was, especially at night.

"alright, text me when you get inside." hawon had no idea why was he so worried about her when he should be worrying about himself.

"same goes to you, now leave." hyunjin nodded before turning around and started walking towards the direction they came from.

the silent and dark streets didn't scare hyunjin, he was acting like he was taking a stroll around the park; while humming to a familiar melody.

his phone ringed through the quiet night, he immediately answered after seeing that hawon was calling him.

"I'm home." he didn't knew how but he could almost sense her rolling her eyes behind the phone.

"I'm almost home, I think." hyunjin walked through the park that they at just now and nodded.

"okay-" hyunjin was about to end the call but he stopped once he heard her screamed. "don't hang up!" he placed his phone back to his ears and asked why.

"oh nothing, just wanted to make sure you don't get kidnap." her words made hyunjin chuckle.

"thanks for your concern, I guess." they both of them chuckled lightly before hyunjin walk pass the tall gates that surrounded his house.

the sound of him entering his code on the door was enough to let hawon know that he was home, safely.

"see you tomorrow?" hyunjin sighed once he got back into his room, "yea, I'll see you tomorrow." the called ended after that.

hyunjin lay on his bed and looked up the ceiling. "kwon hawon." he whispered her name softly and unknowingly, a smile had spread on his tired face.
